1st Trip as Mommy & Daddy Nov 2011 TR- Complete!

Bummer on the pushy guy at your meeting. That was annoying just reading that! Those pizzas look delicious! I love the video of Paxton at the table. Alex already eats pizza  I'm a bad mommy. Glad to hear Paxton loves it now. I mean, who doesn't like pizza?? That stinks about the ghost pictures not being recoverable. We got that one done the last time we went to disney during Halloween. Hope you can get it next time! The land is a great ride! I miss when it was manned by a live cast member. I hate the pre-recorded audio. It's just not the same to me but it's still an ok ride.

Great update as usual! Looking fwd to the next one!

 I kwym!!

Thanks! I looked for a black plain vinylmation thing like that but it's discontinued so I'll have to see if I can find one on ebay. Can't wait to read about what the idea for the front was. Off to read the update :goodvibes

Hope y'all had a very merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

Since they are phasing out the old mold the create your own 9" are harder to find. Every once and awhile Disneystore.com will have them for sale. But they usually go quickly since they are limited stock and discounted. This was how we were able to get ours. When we were there they still had them at the parks, all different colors. The different colors are red, pink, purple, yellow, black and white. Not sure if they had them all but they had several different ones. If you would like I can check to see what is still available at the parks in case you wanted to wait until you got there to buy one. Right now is just an in between time where they are trying to get rid of all thee old mold Vinyls and start putting out the new mold ones. If you can't get one online or from ebay for a decent price you should be able to pick one up at Disney. Best place to look would be D-Street at Downtown Disney.

Sorry they gave you such a hard time at your timeshare meeting. I'd get pretty upset if someone was rude to me, when I already owned their timeshare! :sad2:

It looks like you were able to get back on track and had a great dinner! :thumbsup2 I've never eaten at Via Napoli, but it sure looks great, I'll have to fit it in sometime. I spent two summers in Italy when I was in college, so I'd like to judge it against my memories of real Italian pizza.

I keep kicking myself for forgetting about the Visa meet and greet on our last trip. I think I'm going to steal your idea, and go multiple times next trip to make up for it! :thumbsup2

joining in. Your little guy is just the sweetest, the pics keep getting even cuter. Loved his reaction to IASW... it is just such a great ride for young eyes!

It's funny how "down days" at WDW seem to involve running from here to there the entire day.....we have the exact same problem - "I swear next time we will actually be 'down' our down day!":lmao:

Humph I thought I replied to this earlier today!! :confused3

Oh well - I just wanted to pop in and say that I'm loving your updates. I hate stupid timeshare pitches, and I'm sorry you got stuck in one. They should at least treat their owners with dignity & respect...ridiculous!

Anyway...glad you enjoyed Via Napoli and Living With the Land! I love both of those!! And, love the Santa cookie & milk set - so cute! I'll have to look for that when we go. Can't wait for her 1st Christmas! :goodvibes

Don't remember what else I was going to say. Hope you had a great holiday though and will be looking forward to reading more!

This is when our day started to go downhill. We had planned our Owner's Update with Wyndham this day since it wouldn't keep us from missing any park time, and we'd leave with a $100 Amex gift card to use for the rest of the trip. Then we were going to hit the pool for a little while before heading to Epcot for our dinner ADR.

We were woken up at about 12:30 by a representative from Wyndham calling the room to remind us of our 12:45 appointment. It woke DH and I up, but not DS, so we got the honor of doing that. I HATE waking that boy up when he is napping so well! But of course, both DH and I had to be present for the Update, so we bit the bullet and woke him up. We brought his milk & food with us because we knew he'd be getting hungry soon, and headed down to the 1st floor for our meeting.

Of course it started off innocently enough. They always do! But then they start going through our folder, and asking us about changes we have made in the past, asking "Why on earth would you do that?" and then delving into "For only $xxx we can change that back for you!" When we declined that, then came the hard sell to upgrade to VIP status. We kept telling them we weren't ready to upgrade yet, and that we were not parting with any of our money, but neither us or rambunctious DS was working as a deterrent. The guy working with us then got flat out rude and said if we didn't see the value in their upgrade offer, then we must not see a value in the whole thing at all.

In all it took over an hour and a half to get ourselves out of there, after being made to feel like idiots who didn't know what we were doing. Not at ALL worth the $100 reimbursement, which is why I think next time, we will decline the update and just do our next one when we actually are ready to upgrade or make a change in our contract. Just absolutely not worth the hassle!

By the time we got back to the room, there was no way we'd have a chance to get down to the pool and then bathe before heading back to the park. So again on a trip to Bonnet Creek, we have NEVER used the pool! I am vowing to rectify this next time by not planning 2 ADRs on our rest day, and not doing the owner's update. Then we will be forced to RELAX on our rest day!! So instead, DS played and had a snack while DH and I hung out around the room for a little bit. A little before 3, we got our stuff together for the evening and headed downstairs to the car.

I hate the owner updates. I always think it will be worth it for what they are going to give you. But I can only take so much of "The guys before me didn't have your best interests in mind but I do. and for just $.$$ I can get you back on track and where you should be. What do you mean you don't want to I just think you don't understand what I'm offering you" Gets old and tiring fast.
I think only 1 time the person we sat with actually had good things to say about us and really didn't try to hard sell us on anything. She was nice. Looking back she must have been new :lmao:
Sad that we have yet to use the pool or actually relax on a down day.

We put in our order, and DH played around with the settings on the camera. Some of the pictures were goofy, and this one was our favorite. We call it: T-Rex Arms!

0730.jpg
Love T-Rex arms one of my favorite pics from the trip.

We got back to the resort by about 6:30, and we fed DS, bathed him, and got him to bed by 7:30. We were so tired, we knocked out ourselves at 8:30. This was the night DS woke up screaming hysterically at 9:00 and nothing would comfort him. We even tried taking him in bed with us, but he was just inconsolable. We put some Orajel on his gums, and finally I started singing to him and he went back to sleep. Never did figure out what was wrong, but luckily that was the only night it happened.

Very nerve racking to wake up to your son screaming his head off in the middle of the night. I guess he doesn't like waking up in a strange place. Very heart breaking when nothing you do will console him. Glad that only happened the one night. I don't think I could have handled any more.

Wow I am so behind on the DIS. Just read your entire TR to date today and really enjoyed it. I am so glad your DS did pretty well at the parks and loved the characters.

Thanks for the info! I will definitely check out Dstreet while we are there. eBay has them but they're all $40 or more. I'll definiltely keep checking there and on the Disney store web site though. Thanks!

Khertz ~ I just read your pregnancy TR and looks like y'all had a great time!! We were there around the same time as y'all looks like! Some time in July. I can't remember exactly when. I was about 16 weeks pregnant and absolutely miserable so I didn't really get any pictures and it makes me sad but we can't really redo it now

That's funny, i think i actually bought that shirt for Will at DL too when were there for the day in august. Love it!

Thanks for the info on the meet and greet, we will have to make time for it next trip since Will is so into characters now! and love the free photo too- did it take long to get it printed etc.?

Sorry about the hard sell during your update- what a pain! Sometimes it is just not worth it. That was the only good thing with DVC, when we did our tour, it was so easy, no hard sell at all. It was very low key. I guess the hard sell must work on some folks though, since they keep doing it- it just pisses the rest of us off though. :rotfl:right? Sorry you missed the pool too- i have the same problem. We finally made it to the pool for like 2 hours this trip, but i really wanted more pool time. Of course next time is november, so who knows what the weather will be like, hoping nice enough for a few pool days!

Love Via Napoli- so glad you got to try it finally!!!

Getting the picture printed took maybe all of 10 minutes. Most of that was looking through the photos to decide which one we wanted, and DS flirting with the CM. We went towards the end of the day, so we never had to wait long. And I don't think very many people know about it to take advantage, so that works in your favor too!

I have heard DVC tours are much more low key and less hard sell, which would be nice. To me, it seems like you would do better to treat potential customers AND current clients with more respect, thus eliminating the hard sell tactics we have seen from the Wyndham reps. I think because we are a young couple and look even younger than we are, they think they can treat us like we are idiots. This isn't the first time we have gotten that feeling, but definitely the first time someone flat out told us they didn't think we understood what we had bought.

If next November is anything like this past November, you should have LOTS of pool weather! It was hot more than anything else, just a couple of chilly mornings that warmed up quickly.

I'd probably have said some "rude" things right back to the salesperson if I were in your situation. I don't have much patience for the hard sell. I just got done buying a new truck and I actually had to just get up and leave a dealership to keep from giving a salesman a piece of my mind.:rolleyes1 Probably a good plan to skip that part next time. Your time and that abuse probably wasn't worth $100.

I loved Via Napoli. The service was great, the pizza was great. DW says it is the best pizza she has ever had. I don't know if I can say it is the best I've ever had, but it is pretty darn close.

A nice way to end a rest day in EPCOT. Too bad Paxton was in a bad mood at bed time though. I'm glad he only did that one night.

It was definitely NOT worth $100 to be basically insulted by someone, especially when you are a current client. It is the thing we least look forward to on our trips, but more recently we have taken a lot of quick 2 or 3 night trips so it was easier to decline the update. We have had 1 pleasant experience when we did the update in D.C., but like DH says, she must have been new!

I think the only pizza I have ever had better than Via Napoli was at a place called Matchbox we tried when we were in D.C. recommended by a co-worker who used to live there. But Via Napoli would be a close second!!

Great update as usual! Looking fwd to the next one!

Who doesn't love pizza? I know right! He had his first slice a few weeks ago when my parents and FIL were over helping put his swingset together, and he downed it almost quicker than I could cut it up! He had a slice last night with macaroni & cheese and I felt so bad giving him such crap for dinner, but he has been so picky lately and I just wasn't in the mood to fight! Tonight will be much more nutritious. :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2

*Jealous* of your 2 summers in Italy!! I've been wanting to visit since I was in high school. Hopefully one day I can convince DH to take me sometime before we are retired since he keeps calling it a "retirement vacation." No thank you, life is short & I want to see Italy before I die or am too old to handle the walking!!

Definitely go multiple times, since it is worth it just in the free photo alone. Even better if you can have better luck than us and get different characters each time. I felt like even though the photographer tried to rush us the 2nd time around, it was a better character meet experience because they spent more time with DS playing & interacting.

joining in. Your little guy is just the sweetest, the pics keep getting even cuter. Loved his reaction to IASW... it is just such a great ride for young eyes!

Aww, thanks so much!! He definitely LOVED Small World, much to DH's dismay. But he was a trooper and rode multiple times just to make DS happy. :goodvibes

It's funny how "down days" at WDW seem to involve running from here to there the entire day.....we have the exact same problem - "I swear next time we will actually be 'down' our down day!":lmao:

Well, my excuse is that this was our first attempt at a down day, so I just didn't know how to do it right! Hopefully I have learned enough from my mistake this year to remedy it this year, but I guess you just never know what will come up to make your rest day busy!

Humph I thought I replied to this earlier today!! :confused3

I included T-rex arms just for you! And yes, that night was AWFUL!! Maybe he was traumatized by our owner's update experience and having a nightmare about it?

Wow I am so behind on the DIS. Just read your entire TR to date today and really enjoyed it. I am so glad your DS did pretty well at the parks and loved the characters.

We did have a great time on our babymoon trip, despite it being 1000 degrees outside! :rotfl: We went to D.C. when I was about 15 or 16 weeks, and the heat was unbearable! But luckily I had just recently stopped having the constant nausea that plagued me for the first 12 weeks. I just tired out SO easily, that I didn't get to have the D.C. experience I had hoped for. Luckily, DH is quick with the camera so we still managed to get lots of pictures. But my feet were absolutely killing me by the end of every day and I just couldn't make it past 4 or 5 pm anymore! Just make up for it by taking even MORE pictures of Alex's first trip and you won't worry about that pregnancy trip as much anymore!

DAY 6: Wednesday November 9th

Luckily, despite DS's little freakout the night before, we had all gotten a good night's sleep, because Wednesday was our earliest day yet! Our alarms were set for 6 am. We got up, got dressed, and gave DS his cup of milk, but brought his breakfast with us, hoping he would eat more of the buffet food so we could save his jar of fruit (forgot to mention, when DH had gone to the grocery store to pick up baby food, he was short one jar of fruit). We got him dressed in his Winnie the Pooh onesie because we were off to the MK for a pre-park-opening breakfast with Pooh & friends at Crystal Palace!

We left the resort by 7 am and drove to the TTC. There were only 3 other cars in the parking lot when we got there! We were on the very front row, so we walked to the monorail station and took the resort monorail to the Magic Kingdom. Some very sweet GF CM's were playing and smiling at DS the whole way, which kept him quite entertained.

When we got to the ticket gates, we went in through the early reservations line. I wasn't sure what to expect, but they had the line for reservations roped off to the left side against the little gift shop they have there, so it was weird seeing the entire area in front of the train station completely empty!!

0762.jpg

DS was very cooperative in his stroller while we waited for them to let us in.

0763.jpg

We had to wait about 20 minutes until 7:45 am when they finally let us into the park. The last time we did this was for the KTTK tour, and there were Photopass photographers lined up down Main Street to take your picture, so we were disappointed to find not one single photographer out yet. But we weren't deterred and made our way into the park. DH was snapping away while I took DS around the flagpole courtyard.

0770.jpg

0777.jpg

DS didn't really know what was going on, but he was excited nonetheless.

0778.jpg

We made our way up to the hub to get some pictures in front of the Castle. DH took this one for DS since he loved Chip & Dale so much at AK.

0779.jpg

Last year when we went while pregnant, we had gotten to the park for rope drop and took a belly picture in front of the Castle with no one else around. I thought it would be cute to take the same picture now with me & DS out of the womb!

0783.jpg

With still no photopass photographers in sight, we decided to go to the Rose Garden and take some pictures there with the Castle behind us.

0785.jpg

0790.jpg

0793.jpg

By the time we finished there and made our way out to the Partners statue, some photographers had finally surfaced! While we waited in line behind a couple of families, DH took a couple more shots of the Castle.

0797.jpg

And of us, apparently!

0799.jpg

0804.jpg

Finally, a family shot!!

The Photopass version

Once we finished taking our photos, we headed over to check in at the Crystal Palace. It was the first time eating there for both DH and I, so it took us a second to see where we needed to go to check in since there were people all over the porch.

0810.jpg

I love this one because of the reflection in the water.

0815.jpg

Just an interesting shot of the empty Adventureland! Everyone was going either to CP or to CRT, so everywhere else was pretty much deserted.

Continued in next post...

Well you went longer w/o giving him pizza than I did with Alex! He's already been eating it since he was about 11 months old  Bad Mommy award right here! You're not awful for giving him pizza two nights in a row. We're having Pizza for dinner tonight. :thumbsup2

That stinks that you were sick for your D.C. trip but I definitely know how that is. I have a few (bad) pictures from our babymoon. :sad2: But you're right, I'll make up for that on Alex's first trip in a few weeks! :goodvibes I'm just so scared Alex is going to be crying in all of them

DAY 6 Continued: Wednesday November 9th

Within 5 minutes, they called our family to be seated.

0820.jpg

They showed us to our table over by the kitchen, and we got DS settled into his highchair. Our server brought us chocolate milks and some apple juice for DS. He looked pretty excited about breakfast with Pooh & friends!

0825.jpg

I went to the buffet first and got a plate for myself with a few things on it for DS, but he didn't eat much, so we ended up having to feed him the jar of baby food anyway. That puffed French toast is amazing!! I can't wait to eat at CP again just for that puffed French toast. Mmmm...

Anyway, the characters started coming through quickly! Piglet was up first.

0830.jpg

0832.jpg

0835.jpg

0839.jpg

Up next was Tigger, who was hands down the best character at the breakfast. He just LOVED DS!!

0842.jpg

0849.jpg

0855.jpg

(Later in the trip we bought a fun photo frame to put in DS's room so we can change out the picture each time we go on a trip to WDW with one of our favorite photos or memories...this is the pic that went in the frame!)

Here's a video of just how much Tigger loved DS...

After Tigger, there was a lull in the characters, and DS started getting a little bored. Here's another little video of him entertaining himself.

He did volunteer to take care of the check for us though!

0864.jpg

Eventually, we broke out the light up glow cube from Sci Fi and that once again came to our rescue and entertained him until the next character came.

0865.jpg

Since it seemed like awhile before Pooh was getting to us, I ran up to the buffet for a couple more things to eat. Unfortunately, it meant I missed this amazing moment, but luckily DH captured it on film. And it was quick too, so even luckier was that DH just happened to be filming the parade just because he thought it was cute! He didn't expect Tigger to stop at our table for more kisses! SUCH a cute video! And if you never watch any of the videos I post, it's ok as long as you watch this one because it is SO dang cute!!

Next up after that was Pooh Bear, so we made sure to take a picture on my cell phone to send to my mom because she is obsessed with Winnie the Pooh!

0872.jpg

0880.jpg

We waited a little while for Eeyore, but it was just taking too long and DS was more than restless, so we skipped out before he got to our table. I saw a lot of other people doing the same thing. It's just too hard with little ones to sit for that long, especially when they aren't interested in eating.

We made sure to get some pictures of the topiaries I always see in other people's TRs before we left the restaurant.

Also, after this breakfast, DS's birthday Vinylmation was complete! Here's a couple pics of the front with the character autographs from Chef Mickey's & Crystal Palace.

UP NEXT: A Beautiful Day in MK!

Gosh Paxton's pictures and videos with the characters just get cuter and cuter! How can you stand it??? I LOVE LOVE LOVE the picture of Paxton hugging Tigger's face. And the videos. What a GREAT breakfast character meal! I absolutely cannot wait to take Alex now! I also love all of the empty park pictures. How early will they let you into the park? Our CP ADR is for 8:25am on Sunday morning and the park opens at 9:00am that day.

I have been know to tell DH, "He's just so cute I can't take it!" :rotfl: And once I start kissing those fat cheeks, it's hard to stop myself. It was definitely the highlight character meal of our trip, and I think it will become a tradition on our future WDW trips. I know I am already planning it for our upcoming October trip! I think we will skip CM though in favor of something else. I'm thinking 'Ohana since it is family style, so I won't risk missing any cute moments while on a buffet run.

I would think you'd be able to get into the park as they let everyone else in that has breakfast ADR's. They didn't even check to see that we had an ADR, much less what time it was for. At the worst, you should be able to get in for 8 am. That's what we did for our 8:30 am KTTK tour a couple years ago.

I hope y'all have as great of a time as we did at CP!

Hmm I thought you were going to DL in October? I think that's a good idea to go to Ohana so you don't miss any cute moments on your buffet run. Now I'm going to be throwing food on my plate peeking over to my table to make sure I'm not missing anything at our meal :rotfl:

Ah yeah you're probably right. Thanks! Can't wait to get some empty park pictures with Alex! At least I know he won't cry in those. :thumbsup2

Thanks!:goodvibes

Too bad there weren't any photopass photographers out on your early morning! I guess we just had the good luck to catch them when we had the early CP breakfast!

Those photos of Paxton with the characters are TOO CUTE! Anyone who says that babies don't appreciate Disney World should be required to check out your photos! That will change their minds quick!

I also agree that the characters are really slow at CP, we noticed it in May, and then again when we were just there in Dec. They really need to speed it up, especially for the little ones!

oooo Ok. Woot!!!! I hope you plan on doing a TR for both! I just can't get enough of your sweetie with the characters. And I agree with Candle. Anyone that says that babies won't get anything out of a trip to Disney must look at your Photopass pictures!

Despite my desire, planning and obtaining an ADR 180+ Days out, I have still never been to CP before the park opens for breakfast. :sad2:

It sure looks like you guys had a good time though. I love seeing how well Paxton and the characters all interact. I really hope he stays so interested in them for your upcoming trips.
