1st--trip,1/2 marathon, fam vacation!!WOW!

I just returned from a week long trip to WDW and Universal with my family(DS 25, DDs 15&17). We had a great time!! We stayed at the Bonnet Creek Resort , absolutely fabulous. I did the 1/2 marathon on 1/9 which is its own story but again fabulous! OhMoms description s was a carbon copy of mine. I finished 4 minutes behind her. After the race the whole family relaxed at the pool. We ate breakfast and supper in the timeshare. Mon. we went to Magic Kingdom. Tues. MGM and Epcot. Wed. Animal Kingdom and Blizzard Beach. Thurs. - Islands of Adventure. Fri. down day. Sat. Universal. Sun. flew home with 110,000 travelers out of Orlando. We found out about the BIG convention after we were there. We rented a car from Alamo. Great deal and loved the freedom. I think the total $$ we spent there was about 800.00. We were pleased. We spent the week in 80 degrees and came home to -23. The kids loved all the rides. I lasted through day 3 of rides and then decided to watch some. I lost 6 pounds as an added bonus. Our flights on Airtran were great! Overall great trip!! Can't wait to see the pictures.

I just found out about there being a Disney marathon. I would love to get my hands on a Mickey medal but I've never competed before or ran more than 2 miles at a time. Do you think it's something a beginner could do? I'd have a year to "train"!

Go over and check out the W.I.S.H. board. There are a bunch of us that did the marathon this year and are planning and training for the one next year. We would love to have you.

i had never run more than 2 miles at a time before I started training for this too. I would buy the book, Marathoning for Mortals and No need for Speed by John Bingham. They were my bibles. Go to the W.I.S.H. board and read up . There are already threads abount next year's marathon. I did the 1/2 and got a Donald Medal. The Mickey is for the full. They are spliting them up next year. That should make it more manageable. I had a great time and loved the run. I walked about a third of the race. Good luck!!!
