1st timers buying 100 pts via resale?

We are new to the DVC. We have 2 small children (3 1/2 and 18 mos.) We have a pending purchase of 100 pts. at SSR. Are there any drawbacks to purchasing only 100 pts. (via resale market)? Additionally, If we are going through the resale market is it smarter to buy SSR or one of the other resorts?
