Lisa, first of all, don't panic!! LOL!

You've already got the best head-start by hanging out here on the DIS so you've got a pretty good idea of where you're at. If you need a first night hotel, why not check out the Orlando Hotel Discounts link at the top of the page for some very good rates on some reliable properties? That way, you will solve the only real pressing need you seem to have. Other than that, it is hard to see where you might slip up. Just take it easy on the worrying! This is a vacation, and you need that r'n r, remember?! If there is anything you've forgotten, it can't be very important and you want spoil anything (as long as you remember to lock up when you leave home, LOL!).

Now, what else is there to worry about :)

As you've never been to Orlando before, I wouldn't recommend looking around for a hotel room at midnight when you're tired. This is a big city. Also, is the visitor's center going to be open at midnight?

There's a nice Hampton Inn or Holiday Inn Maingate near Disney. If you have a priceline hotel for the rest of your stay, why not try getting another priceline room for your first night, too?

Be sure you have sunscreen, hats, buy water bottles, pop, to carry around the parks as they cost $2.50 per bottle in parks. A Disneyworld guidebook is a must also. I live in SE Minn., have fun.

lisak,

I didn't lose my 10 lbs either!!!

I love Universal, I really like Sea World, and this year we are trying IOA!!!

I don't think I could go all the way down to Orlando and not do any of the Disney parks, but, I don't think I could go and only do Disney!

If you are planning on spending most of your time not at Disney, why spend the money and stay onsite?

Have fun, whatever you decide!!

once the mosquito bites started to itch we ended up paying close to $10 for a tube of cortisone cream at a DD store which we could have got for $1.50 at walmart.

that's now my #1 tip. cortisone cream and calamine lotion.

Hi Lisa, I'm from Iowa too! That is a long way to drive! We drove to Tampa every Christmas as a child. It took 3 days. It was very educational. As you get further and further South, the accents change and so do the things on the menu! It's really neat for kids to see the differences. Did you pick up any of those 99cent ponchos I've heard people buy at Walmart? I plan to do that for our next trip to WDW. I'm probably the only one that will wear one on Splash Mountain, but wait till they see me DRY! The other crazy thing is start eating 1 banana a day. It will take away any threat of car sickness. They have vitamin B6, and they are great for flying and also nausea during pregnancy. See that the kids eat 1 a day for 3 days before you start your trip. It really works! Have a great trip! We're at the Renaissance World Gate also for our next trip. I hope you'll post how the hotel was. Thanks,
Pomcoach

We are getting a park hopper pass for 5 days.Going to beach on one day not sure where yet.I couldn't find the rain gear I found ones that looked like really thin bags that they sold for 80 cents.Maybe that's the ones. What hotel is by old town that is CLEAN?Thanks for all the help!!!Lisa
