Im sure this has been asked a zillion times.
We are going Aug 16th for 10 days. Everyone I talked to said get an AP. it will be worth it. They will have an ap rate. Just hold on. It will come. I see other deals and I call and they say that's a room only. You can't use it. You have an AP and the dinng plan.
Does anone think there will be a rate for AP holders? I'm not sure I'm lookin in the right place.
Thanks so much!

Who is this everybody of whom you speak? In what way did they explain that an AP will be worthwhile for a 10 day trip? Unless you'll be taking another trip during the year in which the APs are valid, you're spending a lot of extra money that will not pay off.

Even when discounts for the second half of August are finally released, the savings won't be much more than general public discounts (trend seems to be maybe 5% better) so that certainly doesn't translate to making APs worthwhile. Also, you only need 1 AP to get an AP rate so buying APs for all 3 of you would be a complete waste of money.

I'm confused as to why you can't use a room discount because of having an AP. You can't purchase a dining plan without buying one day tickets when using a general public discount but honestly, you're probably better off buying Tables in Wonderland over a dining plan anyway if you have an AP. If you're not buying a dining plan then you absolutely can take advantage of general public room discounts.

Honestly, I think you're likely looking in the wrong direction at deals and would be better off with regular MYW tickets (with or without hoppers depending on your preference and touring style).

I would have to agree that an AP for one 10 day trip would not be a savings (based on my research). We are currently looking at 3 trips for 2013 and based on my math -- I would start to realize the savings somewhere around the 2 - 3rd trip (depending on other discounts available to compare to). Also agree that the AP rate will probably be nothing spectacular (small increase over the GP rate - just my guess though).

It will payoff in 2 trips...not just 1. Don't get it if you don't plan on going back to WDW within 1 year while your AP is valid. In addition, the AP rates for rooms are great and they have dining plans for AP members. If you have a ressie with dining now, the AP will not get you a discount on both. You'd have to cancel and get the AP rate by booking with dining through the AP site.
