kldmom2000 that's what we did too - my husband held DS (we've had this happen to BOTH sons) and I pulled off his shoes. All the while DS is SCREAMING like he is being tortured!!! 
We are flying again in early February & at this point DS6 is cool with it, but DS3 (who just had the last meltdown in September) is not going to be cool with it...I just know it...I am breaking out into a sweat just thinking about it! But, we will still warn him about it, repeatedly, before we get there in hopes that he will understand!!
