Saturday - June 26 - needed to check out of TimeShare. Packed and drove to Kennedy Space Center. I just cannot believe how open and green the roads are! I enjoyed this tour. Thought we would have escaped the line waiting at the parks, but this place you are waiting for your buses also. Only two stops at least. Just a thrill to see the sights I have seen in movies and now in person. Got to see (thanks to our enthusastic bus driver) a pelican with his whole live fish catch of the day flying in from the ocean and landed on a post 'cause the fish was weighing him down. Never saw that sight! Even little things give me a thrill. Wouldn't need to take this tour every year, but very enjoyable.
Arrived back in town (I-4 / 192) and checked into Ramada Plaza Gateway Inn. If you get the tower and the even numbered rooms, ask for something else. The view was the roof of the garden rooms. Blech. Okay place. Son liked the game room. I would not mind staying there again, would want a better room.
Sunday: Truely a rest day. Went to Downtown Disney and went to movies. (Harry Potter III). Lots of people there! Great Magnet shop on this side of DTD area.
Monday. Check out and fly home. But first went to Wilderness Lodge -Whispering Canyon Cafe. Plenty of opportunity to arrive before our PS time. (10:40). Several Empty tables. Fun experience though! Saw twice the exchange of ketchup bottles! And one waiter was chasing a little kid with the lasoo (sp) to make them eat one more bite. HA! My son got caught playing with the lazy susan and our waitress was behind him and yelled at him stop playing with the lazy susan, she told him earlier it was LAZY!. Lots of laughs. I paid with card and another waiter started yelling out my name and approached me and started to indicate there was only enough credit to charge 4 T-shirts! It was very enjoyable. There were also some quiet type waiters (or assistants) that MAY be "in-training". hee hee.
Checked in rental car at Alamo - VERY EASY and took advantage of the person to take our bags to the check in. Well worth the tip!!!! Well worth it. I would have been lost if it had not been for his knowledge. Got an A boarding pass and hung out. I was pretty much first in line and we got our Emergency Exit seats.
What made it a small world......we got off in San Diego and while waiting for our connecting flight to Sacramento, Calif....couple behind us remembered us from flight TO Florida! We traveled on same flights! So we stood in line sharing our vacation experiences (they went to Daytona Beach, and even did a 3 night cruise!) and then yaked about our home town.
Tues. after trip: Truck never found (lost on June 22). First day home our kitchen cabinets were being finalized (new kitchen cabinets and countertops!). Me and DS and DD stayed home. Our 2nd cat's fur is the real nappy kind. Occassionally , if you don't groom it on a reg. basis, it gets napy nappy nappy. And My DD instant messaged me on trip that the butt area was getting really bad (fecal matter, etc). So I get clippers to have DS clip and cut. Both were doing the job and I checked in on them and they said that the back area was just toooo hard (as a rock nappy). My daughter shows me and it seemed that the anus was like dialated!. It was bad bad bad. And since I am not rich (anymore after cabinets, trip) and now needing to deal with vehicle situations..........I had to put down the animal. I know, it is not how you want your animal's life to end, but.............I have no other excuse.
Wed. after trip (came home Monday night ) we see that daughter's '89 Honda Accord is now not running. DH thinks it is another battery problem. Walmart exchanges it and then THIS one according to DH is not good. I take it back and they say it works. Thursday, I tow the car to "my auto guy" and he says whoever put in battery (DH???) blew the main fuse. So for $9 over the $75 diagnostic charge he fixed that. But the Steering Column pump is leaking....soooo for a total of $500 it is fixed.
Thurs. night DD takes her vehicle for a quick errand. It now shows HOT while at stop light and the steering is now draging again. (perfect when she left shop). Find out 5pm Thurs. night from DH that a belt fell off and ........so........we Rush the vehicle back to the place before they close. Now the water pump may be a problem. I am beside myself. I ask DH how come he does not check those things for his daughter and his reply: "Now when do I have time"..........okay marriage problems and will not dwell into that....................HA
Okay, I have two questions for you all - and DON'T GET MAD AT ME FOR THE FIRST QUESTION, OKAY????
(1) Why would you want to take your baby or even a kid under 5 yr. to these parks in June/July/Aug. It is soooooooo hot , and the kids look sooooo misserable. And they won't remember anything. I say 5 yr, cause they start to remember stuff for kindergarden show and tell and stuff. I say if you cannot for the life of you find a baby sitter for the baby /toddler and still want to take your older child, then hang a sign on the stroller so I will feel easier on your situation. Okay, I am being sarcastic and all and I am laughing at myself for such a silly goofy thing, but really, I see these little little babies/toddlers and they are sleeping or hot hot hot. OH, DS and I were waiting in the waiting area for Mission Space and a family had two little girls (one was 5/6 ish and the other was 3 yr or 4 yr ish) and the younger one was crying after the TV intro about how be prepared for what was to happen. This kid apparently was the proper height, but she was scared and this ride even blew me ! away. I don't know. I mean I have kids and went when my DD was 5 and then both when DS became 5. to Disneyland and all .......so I am not a childless person .............but , OH, I don't know. It was just so hot and humid .............
(2) - Where do the residents of Florida live? We never once saw a regular home on a street. We asked our waitress at Tony's and she said mostly these neighborhoods we are familiar with are mostly closer to downtown Orlando. Where do Kissimmee residents live for example. ?? This thought perplexed me too.
Thank goodness I have this week off from work to deal with the reality of life problems now. augh..................
Thanks for letting me vent!
