We went to Tutto Italia today for lunch. I've been there before and I love Tutto, but this time I wanted to try something different.

I'd heard on these boards that the lasagna there is "to die!" so between that and some other choices I went for the lasagna. Big mistake! The lasagna was just too similar to Chef Boyardee - really if you ate Chef Boyardee meat ravioli and the lasagna side by side, it would be tough to tell them apart. :sad2:

Does everyone really think this lasagna is great?

I usually get excellent advice from these boards so this was the first time I've been steered wrong about a menu item. Different strokes for different folks I guess!

Anyhow, if you're at Tutto, you may want to rethink the lasagna. Get the Casarecci w/ lamb sauce, its much better (I know b/c I ate about 1/2 of it off of my husband's plate today!)

I will still go to Tutto in the future, I'll just order something else next time.

That's odd. I love lasagna and the same thing happened to me when I went to Buca di Beppo and ordered it. I usually love everything there, but the lasagna tasted like Chef Boyardee. So weird that you had the same experience with it at Tutto.

It was such a bummer! I kept thinking I should have had the penne caprese :headache:

Try the quattro al forno at Buca next time, it is yummy.

That's really strange. Chef Boyardee truly and honestly makes me gag, but I really enjoyed the lasagna when I was at Tutto Italia last July.

I don't know how to justify that in light of your comments and my own feelings toward Chef Boyardee...maybe they changed the recipe?

My DH and I dined at Tutto this past May, for lunch. We had a wonderful experience...

We each ordered a glass of wine
Shared the Calamari & Insalata Misa as appetizers.
As our entree we split the Casarecci pasta.

It was a wonderful meal - and we went upon the suggestions of our servers, which said, the pasta we chose was hand-made there daily.

I'd go again...it really can be a lovely lunch experience. Next time, perhaps have the servers steer your menu choices, versus opinion on the DIS; maybe that will do the trick!

Yes I think I will do that. Like I said, I love Tutto and will be back in a month or so, but I was disappointed in the lasagna today - you're spot on w/ the Casarecci, what I had of it was delicious.

Also, just more on the Chef Boyardee comment - the lasagna was limp noodles and also the ragu sauce didn't have much flavor, to me it was similar to the Chef. If other people like it, then more power to them, but I know there are other menu choices that are better.

thanks for commiserating w/ me guys! it's always a let down when you're geared up for a good meal and it ends up being sub-par.

Planning on tutto for the frist time in October, Will mark lasagna as a no go :thumbsup2

i've eaten there a few times- the fettucini alferedo was the only thing I didn't care for- just not what i expected- good- but not what I expected-
we ate there for my son's birthday- just me and him- i was not on the dining plan at that time- so I was watching my pennies- i had a chicken dish- TO DIE FOR! going again next week!

we sure do all have different likes and dislikes.....I loved the strip steak and the potatoes.....weird right....go to an Italian restaurant and get MEAT....

My wife ordered the lasagna during our dissaster visit there. She did not care for the taste plus the bottom was burned, even the replacement they sent out was burned. That's when the waiter got rude and started discussing what baffoons Americans were in Itailian to the other servers (who agreed and laughed with him). Problem was my wife speaks Itailian. Tutto Italia's corporate office in California refunded our entire cost and told us the server would be disiplined.

I have never eaten there, but I tend to not go to Italian Restaurants since I am Italian and quite frankly nothing I have ever ordered out compares to my own cooking, I find I am always disappointed in the meal.

YIKES! :scared1::scared1::scared1:

Loved the grilled fish platter two years ago, but didn't love the veal last year. I don't love italian food (but booked for DH and DD17), so I try to stear away from many of the pasta dishes. Doesn't look like the lunch menu on Allears has been updated recently. Anybody had a meat or fish dish for lunch recently you want to brag about? Or pasta with seafood?

I haven't had the lasagna there but I do like Tutto a lot. It could have been an off batch though? I went to an italian restaurant this weekend (near me) and ordered a dish I just got the weekend before and it wasn't the same at all, it was pretty bad and the weekend before it was so great that I couldn't wait to order it again this weekend.

I enjoyed my lasagna there a lot, but that was in 2008 so maybe they changed the recipe...

Normally, I can understand the different perspectives regarding a restaurant, but it really stretched me to understand how folks could like Tutto Italia. I acknowledge that it is possible, but between the taste and service, it was the worst dining experience we've ever had at Epcot, with the exception of Nine Dragons.

:rotfl:
