We are waitlisted at the BCV for two nights (first and last nites) of our four night stay then move on to 7 nites at VWL (confirmed). I am getting nervous about this as we could end up moving 3 times. This will be our first trip ever as new members. Do people usually wait until the very last minute to cancel. I was told by guide that you get your waitlist requests 90% of the time. Is this fairly accurate? Should I make alternative arrangements for another resort for the first 4 nites just in case (11-2/11-6)? Should I sit back and wait or should I be calling MS?

If you are confirmed elsewhere you have a room, if not you need to confirm a room. Are you saying you are without a ressie nights 1 and 4 then VWL for 7 more nights? I would try to book VWL for night 4 if you have nothing and get something for night one, you need to book something before you really get nothing! All while staying on the waitlist for what you want. We have had the best luck just days before arrival. I have not always had waitlist success, but then we have at other times been very lucky. Good luck, but make sure you have something booked for every night. You can even waitlist for every resort in the order you want them.

i just waitlisted from a studio to a 1 BR at BCV and it took about 3 weeks to come through. I think unless you are going Thanksgiving and Christmas, you have a very good chance of your waitlist coming thru. I heard from others and many had the waitlist come through within the month before arriving. Good luck.

I would definetly make a back up ressie. (That pretty much assures what you really want will come through;) ). You can do a cash ressie through MS, which means no deposit payment. They can set you up on "auto-cancel". This way as your waitlist comes through, they book that and cancel the corresponding cash night. Many people do wait until that 30 day window to cancel.

Also, as it gets closer call MS back and check with them. If it still hasn't become available ask them to call BCV and see if they can "clear a room for you". They often are able to pull back a cash room into the system. Your other option is try adding the last night at VWL if available (even if it is your backup plan).

Good luck
Sandy

I agree with others about a back-up plan, and the last night at VWL etc...
I also would not throw in the towel on the waitlist. Quite often there are stories posted here about surprising successes.

Good luck...

My thanks to everyone for the information. I cannot imagine how long the learning curve would be without everyone's support on this board. We never would have bought into the DVC if it wasn't for the time I spent here being reassured. I didn't even know I could make a reservation for a regular room through the MS. I'll call first thing tomorrow and set up my backup plans. Thanks again.
