Hi all! The info you all post has been great! I hope you can help me map out what my family and I will do in the 7 days we have in SD and Anaheim.
We arrive 11/17 and leave 11/24.
Here's what I have *thought* would be good:

FRI 11/17-arrive in SD in the am. Hit Corrando for the day. then check into hotel in Escondido

SAT 11/18- SD Zoo

SUN 11/19-TUES11/21-Go to Anaheim-we have reservations at the Candy Cane:
Was thinking about DL Sunday, but now am not too sure-maybe CA would be less crowded, then do DL on Monday and Tuesday be a "do what we didn;t get to do yet" at either park?

WED 11/22- Seaworld-is the Shamu breakfast worth it?

THURS 11/23- Animal Park

FRI 11/24- home

Any advice you all could give me would be greatly appreciated! I have been to WDW, but SD and DL are all new to me!

Thanks so much!

Hello! First off welcome to Disboards! Its an awesome site, and its AMAZINGLY HELPFUL!! Please feel free to ask us any questions if you have any. Everyone here is so willing to help out.

Also if your planning on doing Disneyland on a Sunday. Then I would actually expect the lineups to be much longer as weekends are always busy as work and school is out.

Week days are sooooo much better, you cant beat it. I would seriously do like sea world or the zoo on the weekend, and save disneyland for a week day. It will give you more time to do a lot more in Disneyland when your there without all the pushing crowds.

I did the Shamu lunch when we went to seaworld in 03. We loved it! definetly (SP?) worth it IMO. They gave the kids cool cups with shamu on them, I liked them so much I asked for one for myself and our waitress was very nice and gave me one.

I would check the schedules for what is going on in the parks for those days. Sometimes midweek they won't show all of the shows or fireworks. But what makes DLR so unique is that you can just hop right over to other park to see what you might have missed. :rotfl: Have fun and welcome to California. :tinker:
PS Just curious why you are staying in Escondido? It's kind of out of the way from the zoo. :confused3 Maybe you got areally good deal on a hotel??? :goodvibes

yes, Econdido is pretty far from anything... i wouldnt recommend hitting Wild Animal Park and San Diego Zoo together... they kinda replace each, one or the other... San Diego Zoo is more caged animals, or in the pen animals, while Wild Animal Park is more expanded and vast where the animals roam free...

Maybe one more day at Disneyland? or Legoland?

We own a time share, and picked there as a swap, as well as we have family living nearby. Is it really out of the way? I know the Wild Animal Reserve is in Escondido. How far would DL be?

Thanks for the welcome!
We already have reservations for Sunday-Tuesday. I was trying to avoid the Thanksgiving crowds.
Should I do CA on Sunday instead? Is this one typuically less crowded?
Thanks for all the help!

It sounds really nice. Are they doing training with the dolphins/whales while you eat or is it a show?
Thanks!

Thanks for the advice! How is Legoland compared to everything else? Worth seeing?

Thanks!

A combo of both. After they were done telling about how they train and doing some tricks they opened the mic up and let the kids ask questions to the trainers.

The food was really good also.

This sounds really fun! Can you reserve it that week, or should I do it now? I hate to do it now just in case we need to switch days or something.

i been told the Legoland is great for kids... but i heard it isnt a good place for teenages or young adults because it isnt as thrilling. I never been there so i wouldnt know. sorry. But to go to both animal parks, is like going to LA Zoo and San Diego Zoo :) There are just the same...

I agree with Albort in regards to the zoo vs. wild animal park.. do one or the other but not both...in regards to Legoland...unless you have kids under 5, I would skip it altogether....

Welcome to the boards. I agree the parks are so close if one is crowded you can go to the other. We were there last Dec and the crowds at DL were getting bad so we went to CA. It did not seem packed at all while we were there (12/21-12/24)

Escondido is not much different than San Diego to DL. I think it's even closer. It's just that you will be going back and forth to San Diego to sight-see, but now I understand why you are staying in Escondido. Have fun!!! :tinker:

Escondido is roughly an hour from disneyland. Going back might be longer. I think you have to go through the "Orange Crush". If you do, avoid it at rush hour. It is the merge of the 405 and 5 freeways and it pretty much sucks.

Legoland is great for young kids. I think kids until about 8 would like it. Some of it might be too young for kids (hence other posters comment about age 5), but there is still plenty to amuse the under 8 set. If your kids are young and into legos it is a must do. My son loves legos and he likes Legoland better than Disneyland. I love the look of parts of the park and can put up with it for a day (you don't need more) just to marvel at the things built out of legos.
