1st Time Mom Makes Her 1st Trip Report - Our Magical Trip with Our Miracle 7 Mo. Old!

Your first day was so much better then mine, and I was on the look out for you as well!!!LOL

I have to say for 2mths old Carson is very relaxed it was the 7yr old that was the hardest!!LOL Waiting to see if u were more relaxed about nursing by the end... I sure was stayed covered but did it when ever and where ever I needed to!

oh no! what happened???

i'll tell you, i really surprised myself with where and how i bf'ed.

OMG your son is soooooooooo cute! I'm due to have a little boy any day now (DISing lots to make the time go faster!) We are planning our first trip with him when he'll be about 10 months old so Im very interested in your TR and any tips you have to pass along...like what is this Ergo carrier you speak of? Where did you get it? It seems that the hood is a godsend for naps in the parks :thumbsup2

ohhhh!! congrats to you!!! i found in the very beginning of mommyhood i was on the DIS ALOT because i was awake...ALOT! in fact, my son has been up since 2:45 am, it's 4:21am right now and here i am! gah! just when i think we are sleeping through the night, he's up at 2:30! he's over playing in his bouncy thing like it's the afternoon!

oh and the ergo carrier? it's awesome! that's the green carrier thing that you see thomas in in practically all the pictures! haha! i got my ergo at buy buy baby. it's a little pricey but in my opinion it's so worth it. the slings never worked for us, the moby was better (for me personally) when he was itty bitty. the baby bjorn is good but hard on your back. the ergo is really comfy for me and john. thomas can go in the front, in the back, and even the hip when he's older.

good luck to you and congrats! i hope you'll post when baby comes!!!

AAARRRRGGGHHH!

i just wrote out my whole day 2 and my darn computer crashed!!!!! and now i'm out of nap time from my boy!!!! grrrrrrrr!!!!

i will get up day 2...again...hopefully tonight.:mad::mad::mad:

Thanks for the tip on the Ergo! We have a baby bjorn, but I have a bad back and think DH will be the one to use it, but the Ergo looks a lot more comfy for the adult to use too. I went to the dr yesterday and my BP was up :( but I am 3cm dilated and 75% effaced so hopefully he will be coming soon! If hes not here by Mon and my BP doesnt go down then we will have to talk about induction :sad2: I dont know why but induction freaks me out!

Great TR :cool1: I have to laugh when my son was about 4 months old we went to WDW and brought everything but the kitchen sink. By the time we had our second child we brought half the amount of stuff. Can't wait to hear more.:thumbsup2

Our first full day, Monday, started off at 4:30am :earseek: Granted, we were probably asleep by 8:45pm so I really can't complain. Thomas woke up a few times in the night but not so much that I needed to feed him. One time we just plugged him with the pacifier and the other times he just fell back asleep. This would be great if I wasn't such a light sleeper! Every little noise woke me up! Still, it could have been so much worse. In a new place, different bed, different lighting - he could have been up all night!

Here's our munchkin playing in his disney-issue pack-n-play:

LOL! yes, we had him set up in the bathroom area. I felt that was the best because there is a curtain that we could close up a bit so we could watch a little tv before we went to sleep ourselves (however, by the end of the day, I think we watched maybe 3 minutes before falling asleep each night!).

I fed Thomas while John showered and got ready for the day. Afterwards, I peeked outside and saw rain. Bummer. Not really that bad though and I hoped it would stop. Still, rain in Florida is better than cold in New York! Around 5:45 am or so John took Thomas out in the stroller and walked around the resort and the main building while I had a chance to get ready in peace and quiet. By then it had stopped raining too. Awesome!

Showered, dressed, and diaper bag ready I left the room to meet John and Thomas and get my tea! That was the longest I’d been awake in a long time without some sort of caffeine in me!

Here’s the gorgeous French Quarter in the wee hours of the morning:

And ahhhh, my favorite place at the resort – the food court!!! Home of the great food (and no, I’ve never even had a beniet (sp?) and the refillable mugs! Something about drinking from those mugs makes me really feel like I’m on vacation!

This morning we had reservation for breakfast at Chef Mickey’s. I had never been there before! In fact, the only time I was ever at the Contemporary Resort was while riding the monorail! I was both excited and nervous about this breakfast because Thomas had never seen characters before, we had actually never been out with him at a restaurant EVER, and he hadn’t napped! But hey, gotta try, right? We got in the car and followed the directions to the Contemporary. We decided to valet park it because one of the DISers had suggested doing that so that we could go to the Magic Kingdom after that. I wasn’t sure if that was kosher but I asked the valet and he said it was totally cool and that people did it all the time.

Here is a not so good shot from the line at Chef Mickey’s:

And here’s my mini-mousetekeer all ready to see the Chef:

ok I just have to point this out to you – he is wearing a Mickey hat, a Mickey outfit (that you can’t see), a Mickey bib, Mickey socks, and Mickey shoes AND is holding a Mickey. Do you think mommy was planning for this trip for a long time or what????

And of course here is the monorail quietly gliding by:

so cool!

Now you aren’t going to believe this but OF COURSE my camera died right after snapping a few shots with Donald! ARRRGHHH!!! When I left the room it told me it was fully charged! Grrr! Luckily we had the Flip video camera so we were able to get some good footage of Thomas meeting the rest of the characters. But here are a couple photos of Thomas and Donald:

He’s really starting to notice little things like buttons. He’s obsessed with them now!

Unfortunately the rest of the meal, like the camera, was a bit of a lost cause. Thomas was TIRED, OVERWHELMED, and HUNGRY!! I put him in the Ergo and jiggled around for a bit while trying to eat some breakfast. Not easy. Our poor waiter was probably itching for us to get out of there already! I actually wound up feeding him in the Ergo! Now, you have to know that I was never a nursing in public person and could never figure out how to nurse any other way than on my couch with pillows. So to be able to nurse in a baby carrier was pretty huge for me! AND you couldn’t see anything!

After Chef Mickey’s we decided to take the monorail over to Magic Kingdom – that was dumb. I didn’t realize the direction in which the monorail travels. And we were trying to get there during, well, rush hour! So it took a lot longer to get there than if we had just walked. Still, we got there so it was all good!

We walked straight to Fantasyland and walked right onto Winnie the Pooh! Thomas was held by John in the Baby Bjorn so he could see out (I promise in later days I’ll have pictures of these things!!). After that we walked right onto Snow White and even right onto Peter Pan! Awesome! Thomas really enjoyed looking at everything! He was bouncing his arms and legs all around!

Next we went on it’s a small world. We sat in the front row and the rest of the boat was part of a Brazilian tour group. (if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say it at all. So we’ll just move on from that!)

Thomas was getting hungry and a little overwhelmed now so we headed to our very first trip to a Baby Center. After reading all about them on the DIS, I was excited to check them out. Yeah, they rock! We spent a lot of time in these baby centers and it was a great little break! The nursing room at the Magic Kingdom that day was a bit on the stuffy side but I think that may have just been because it was early and they probably didn’t have any air going through that room all night.

After the baby center, I thought for sure Thomas would fall asleep in the stroller. Nope! My back was bothering me a little so John held Thomas in the Ergo. It was also really sunny (so much for that rain earlier!) so we lubed my pale boy up in lots of sun block.

I managed to get the camera working just long enough to get this:

I know, another Mickey hat!!! I’m obsessed!!!

John and I were hungry (you’ll notice we eat a lot!) so we headed over to Pecos Bill and split the chicken wrap. Meh, not that good. Should just stick to the burgers.

We then walked over to Tomorrowland to try out the baby swap on Space Mountain. Go up to the CM and she tells us we have to take Thomas out of the stroller, take him THROUGH the line with us and swap from there! WHAT! I tried to explain that I’m pretty sure that was not right. But she insisted!! Luckily, the line wasn’t long so we both just individually waited.

Ok, maybe it’s mommyhood but roller coasters seem so much faster now! I used my iphone to snap this:
photo20.jpg

haha I look scared!!!!

We went to Auntie Gravity’s for some ice cream and then took a trip on the TTA. Thomas got hungry so I fed him on the ride. He then fell asleep in the Ergo! We decided to do Buzz Lightyear and Thomas slept right through it!! Here’s another iphone action shot:
photo19.jpg

There’s Thomas under the green thing on top of me! LOL!

Thomas was still asleep so we walked over to Adventureland and rode Pirates. He woke up right at the end.

We decided to head back to the baby center where we discovered a massive diaper explosion! Whoa! After a nice dry outfit Thomas had some yummy applesauce and oatmeal in the really nice wooden highchairs they have there.

Dinner time! We headed over to Columbia Harbor House. We had never been there and I was pleasantly surprised! I had the hummus sandwich and John had the tuna sandwich. Both good and Thomas was in good spirits and let us eat.

Thomas loves his daddy (or wants that cup!):
photo17.jpg

Ugh, now comes an un-magical memory of the trip. We decided to head back to the resort after that since it was getting close to Thomas’s bed time. I put Thomas on my back in the Ergo. We were by the stroller parking outside the Columbia Harbor House. There was a small space between our stroller and the next stroller and I was standing in that space getting Thomas secured on my back. This jerk barges through to park his stroller in that small space because apparently going two more feet to the other side of the next stroller would have killed him. He came VERY close to knocking into Thomas on my back and I told him so. Well this *^$#%#$6354 of a guy just wouldn’t let it go. He just kept saying he wasn’t too close. I said, look buddy, you need to watch out for other people’s personal spce, especially when there are infants involved.” He again just wouldn’t back down and what looked to be his MOTHER chimed in something nasty like, “oh why would be want to get close to you?” argh!!! There is more but I’m not going to waste any more time on that jerk or his family. Here in NYC, you get too close to someone, especially with a kid, and you get a punch in the face!! Grrr!!

Enough! Poo on him!

We walked out of the park while I steamed and John told me to let it go. Darn him and his niceness! LOL! We walked to the Contemporary, got our car, and drove home.

Bathtime, feeding, and bed for Thomas. I’m pretty sure we were asleep 5 minutes later!!

What’s next??? I hope you’ll stick around! I charged my camera so there are plenty of pictures!!

omg we brought SO much stuff! we wound up doing laundry 3 different times (thomas still spits up alot) so i really could have packed like a quarter of the amount of clothes we brought!

thanks for joining!!!

get the Ergo! your back will need all the help it can get once you start picking up that baby all the time!

don't be nervous about induction (well, try not to at least!). i was induced and it was really no problem! i almost preferred that to going into labor because at least i was already at the hospital!

keep us posted!!!

Wow, nice day! Thomas is just adorable. Trust me when I say it was the DIS that alerted me to the "magical tuna" at CHH - glad your DH enjoyed it. ;)

Sorry about the jerky guy - sigh. :sad2:

Can't wait to hear more! :goodvibes

Hi :wave2:I just stumbled upon your trip report and I'm hooked! Thomas is adorable, and it looks like you had a great trip. I'm looking forward to reading more! Thanks for sharing with us.

joining in! LOVE your report so far! And while yes, all mothers think their kid is the cutest...seroiously girl...you're little boy is ADORABLE! And that's coming from a mom of four!

Can't wait for more! :)

Count me in for the ride. I also think your little boy is the cutest. So when are you going to have a girl? Are you going to be one of those back from a Disney trip with pixie dust and a surprise in the oven pixiedust:

I'm loving your TR. Thomas is adorable!:goodvibes

I'm with you, the guy would have gotten a punch, but I'm from Philly and that's how we roll;)

I was like you when we took our DS for the 1st time (he was 11 months then) and worried about sleeping, etc. I think they get just as tired as we do, even not doing all the walking. I thik just all the excitement and stimulation makes them tired. Although, like Thomas he still got up early:sad2:

Can't wait to read more.:thumbsup2

Just read your update and I'm glad Thomas didnt freak out at the characters :thumbsup2 That's a worry I have too, and we are staying at the Contemporary so we are for sure doing Chef Mickey's for breakfast! I would of decked that guy that almost knocked you over....what a jerk!

Good for you for speaking up to that guy in the stroller area. How many different times i wanted to speak up to people, but my DH would always say to let it go too. GRRRR.

Your son is so gorgeous and it sounds as though he's loving his first trip to WDW :goodvibes

I would have probably offered to park the stroller in a place far more convienent for me, not so much for him! I just arrived home from my first WDW trip and had my 6 month old son with me. I'm very particular about my personal space when i'm holding him as well! Especially since he was our little miracle too:love:

Your son is VERY cute!!

Looking forward to reading about the rest of your trip! We were over at Riverside, I'm interested on how the 2 compare.

Your whole family is so cute. I would not have let that go...the rude man. lol
looking forward to more..popcorn::
