Hi everyone. We're doing a 4 nite cruise on May 28th. We're trying to decide on either a cat 9 room or cat 6 room. We've got quotes for both and the cat 6/veranda would be about $800 more. It will be me, DH, DD (10) and DS (8). I'm confused and overwhelmed and wanted to know if some of you cruise veterans could share some insight as to whether it would be worth the extra $$$. I know I'd love the veranda but would we actually spend that much time in the room? The cat 6 room would be #6550, looks to be about mid ship. Is this a good location? Thanks so much for any advice any of you can offer. I need all of the help I can get!

Deciding to have a verandah is a tough call. We had one on our last cruise and are planning two more.

Our DD's are still young and will go to bed earlier and sleep longer than my DH and I so to sit out there in the morning with my coffee, or at night with a cocktail and it means so much to me. :flower:

My parents who do quite a bit of cruising don't spend allot of time in the room so they don't bother with a verandah. :flower:

You'll have a great trip either way. :wizard:

Stayed in 6550 in '04 & will be in it again in May '06 It is a great location; just down one flight of steps & your at the kids clubs, pretty close to the Worlds slowest elevators ;)

We loved the verandah, can watch things going on while in port, can enjoy the sounds of the waves, many things can be done on a verandah ;)

Thanks guys! I think we are going to bite the bullet and do the verandah room. DrCavin, it's great to hear from someone who actually stayed in the room. That helps a lot!! I just know me, and I think I will want some quiet, away time from the rest of the ship and a verandah should do the trick!! You guys have been awesome, again thanks! :flower:

We will be cruising on May 28th too!!! Me and my son who will be 12 at the time. We did not get a verendah room, but my sil and niece are going and they got a verendah room and we are right across the hall so we will use her verendah!!! I think you are the first ppl that I have seen that are cruising the same time as us!!!! This will be our first time too!!! Happy cruising :goodvibes :goodvibes

Hey wannabecruiser! You're the first I've seen going on that cruise too! Nice to meet ya! We'll have to try to meet up on the cruise. You're going on the Wonder right? You get the best of both worlds with your sil having the verandah! I just talked to a friend of mine who went on the cruise a couple of years ago and she said they only really used their verandah the first day. So now that's got me rethinking things...AGAIN...Lol!! I don't know if we'll ever get this booked because I don't know if I'll ever make my mind up!!! :confused3

When You Do Book This Cruise, Go Over To The Cruise Meets Board And Sign On I Always Check Out That Board To See If Anyone Has Posted For That Date!!! Good Luck On Booking, And By The Way, If My Sis-in-law Was Not Going, I Would Of Probably Booked A Room With A Verandah Since It Is The First Time, I Figure Who Knows If I Would Ever Be Able To Do This Again, And If I Can Than Maybe I Can Decide If I Want A Verandah Or Not Next Time!!! Tough Decisions!!!! Good Luck And Talk To Ya Soon!!!!!

I have taken cruises in the past, and having a veranda, for me, was nice because you have the waves and breeze to enjoy with a coffee or cocktail while you wait for your crew to get ready for dinner, ect. -And in my case, when I took my last cruise with a baby, when I was in the cabin while she napped, I could suntan and enjoy the scenery a bit.
