Any tips/observations/etc. would be greatly appreciated!! TIA!

Be sure to watch Wishes from the beach, at least once.:goodvibes And don't miss the Electrical Water Pagent. And if you like bananas, have the tonga tost. My sister wants to go back to the Poly, just for that!

Thanks! I've heard great things about the tonga toast and can't wait to try it! Wishes from the beach sounds great....:thumbsup2

Don't forget the self serve Dole Whips at Captain Cooks. Watch Wishes at the beach or the pool, relax on a hammock and take it all in! Try to have breakfast and/or dinner at Kona and Ohana.

Us, too! Our first time at Poly, this September, and we are soooo excited.

We are doing 'Ohana one night, hoping to get a view of the fireworks, but if we miss it somehow, we will make a point to watch from the beach some night. ;) We are also doing the Spirit of Aloha show. We hear mixed reviews, but figure it's worth deciding for ourselves, to get in the spirit of our resort theme!

Has anyone done the watermice? Is it worth renting to do some day?

Dh and I have done the watermice a few times when the kids were on the Pirate Cruise. It was a lot of fun. When we had the kids with us we rented one of the pontoon boats and enjoyed that also.

You will love it. I think Ohana and Kona have great food. You can't go wrong with either place. Ohana is fun with kids, they love the games. I also think Breakfast with stitch is one of the best character breakfast we have been to. Stitch is so much fun, and of course Mickey is there.

If you do not have a lagoon view room, and you have garden view look at Fiji its a wonderful building with great views on both sides.

You will have a great time, and be prepared to not be happy with any other resort. Its hard to go back to a non monorail resort once you stay there.:rotfl:

We are staying there for the first time in a few months...can't wait!! Seeing the fireworks from the beach would be nice. Do they pipe in music and do we have to get there early to pick a spot?

Yay! What week will you be there? We will be there the 1-9.

Thanks! We are definately going to do Ohana for dinner one night!

Two words: Lapu Lapu!

Okay, some more words...it is a really yummy drink in a pineapple. Don't get it at the pool bar, though, they don't have the pineapples! Get it at the Tambu Lounge or Ohana's, or Kona.

Oooh! Same time! August 30-Sept 10! Wahoo!

Oh, and one of my students used to live in Florida, and she said that the Mai Tais there are the best she has ever had. I read this in a few other places, and while I can't figure out how it could be so great, I intend to try one (or two...http://disboards.com/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)

Yum! Is it a pineapple flavored drink?

Try to see the torch lighting ceremony. It is a short presentation at the main entrance but well worth making time to catch one evening.

The Lapu Lapu is actually a mai tai in a pineapple! Can't wait to have another one at Ohana! :woohoo:

We leave on Friday for a split stay with the first two nights at the Poly - I am so looking forward to it! We plan on spending several hours on Saturday at the pool, will eat Tonga Toast at the Kona Cafe on Saturday and will eat dinner at Ohana's on Saturday. Hopefully we'll get to see Wishes after dinner on Friday.

I'm going for August for the first time too! I'm perplexed on what building to request. I made a request for something close to the main building but I want something close to the bulding, smoking, and with a balcony. I have a Garden View.

We loved it! Out side of our room which we felt was the best (wateview/MK, over by the ticket transportation center. It was much faster to catch the monerail from that point rather than infront of the hotel. Also best desserts! oh MY GOD, They have coconut icecream and this choc. lava cake thats out of control. The character breakfast was very good its served family style on a lazysusan. The pineapple bread was worth cheating on my diet. The shopping we feel is better here than at most resorts. The main pool is awesome for the kids. In the afternoon the life guards pull out the water basketball and some other cool games. There was nothing not to love about the Poly!
