1st time at BWV-1br..Room Suggestions?

This will be our first time staying at BWVs in a 1 bedroom standard view room......I was just curious if there are any specific room requests I should fax in prior?

We will be there July 11-18 staying 2 nights at AKL and then 5 nights at BWV....it will be me, husband and 2 boys, ages 8 & 3.

When we first made the reservation through DVC I requested near the pool...anything else to avoid or request???

I have been compiling a list of room comments. This may help you in the type of thing to ask for. Please remember that specific room number requests are generally not granted. Also, not all requests can be granted either.

We had a 1 bedroom standard in December. It was on the 4th floor across from the bus stop. It had a great view of the fireworks from Illuminations, we could even hear the music. It was about half way down the hall (room 4103). The rooms near the elevators would be the closest to the main pool but face the valet parking entrance.

Edit - I just noticed you are going in 43 days. Most of the standard views are closed right now, including the one I described above. The only ones open are near the tennis courts. There's a chance you will be upgraded to a preferred view, possibly facing one of the pools.

What is the reason for the rooms to be closed? Is this something to be concerned about...we were originally booked at OKW and then waitlisted for BWV.....this came through a few months back and I was thrilled.

Should I not bother to send it a request then?

They are renovating the exterior of the hotel. There was a construction defect with the original materials and it is being replaced. When I was there visiting 2 weeks ago, all of the standard views facing the driveway were covered with scaffolding along with the area above the Wyland Gallery. I believe the rest of the resort is done and they are supposed to be finished by the fall.

I would stick with your "close to the pool" if you plan to be using it alot.
