1st Stay at SSR

I'm so glad to hear such a nice report on SSR too.. we are going to Disney for the first time and staying at SSR too at the end of January!!!! I'm so excited!!!
Can anyone give me advice on whether or not to do the Disney Dining Plan with this reservation? It will be me and my 8 year old son...we'll be staying in a Studio, so I know we'll have the small kitchen, but any advice would be very appreciated!
Any info on how it works to book it would be good too!
Thanks so much!!

If you are staying on points, MS will need to be notified ahead of time to get the dining package. Make sure you have ADRs for all the Table Service restaurants that you want to dine at. We were in a one bedroom at VWL last week and did the dining plan. We ate a bunch, and still left 3 Counter Service credits. It almost got to the point that we didn't want to eat the meal we had scheduled.

We love SSR, true we're biased, but we have no complaints yet. The new restuarant is great, and on our October trip, I was talking to the bartender at "On the Rocks" and she was telling me how the CM's all have big plans for once DVC leaves the resort and they get some of the space turned over to get mor amenities.

I can't wait for our first trip home! Glad to hear it was so wonderful for you!!

We are going to SSR in Jan. It will be over MLK weekend so it will be more crowded. Can someone tell me the bus loop schedule. Would really appreciate it. I hear the Springs is a great section d/t the proximity of the lobby/pool but I don't see the pool being much of an issue in mid Jan.
Also, do they still have the carriage rides???
Thanks

I'm so glad you enjoyed your first trip home to SSR! We loved our first stay there and we had been like you and had only stayed at the value and moderates before that and they had always been fine but when we walked into SSR we were totally wowed especially since we had bought sight unseen on a Disney Magic cruise. As you often read people saying here we should have bought DVC years ago but DH was a hard sell but he did say our 1 bedroom at SSR was the nicest place we have ever stayed so I know even he is happy we finally made the purchase!

SSR really is a nice resort. We really like it too.
Watch out for those 1bdrms though, going to a studio afterward is really really really hard ;)
