Hi there looking for suggestions for our first night's dinner...

We are staying from July 11-18th with our first 2 nights at AKL.......we will probably do Boma's for breakfast the first morning but were wondering where to go for dinner?

We aren't doing any parks the first day......want to hang around the hotel and possibly go over to the Marketplace........

Any suggestions for dining at the Marketplace or should we try Boma for dinner as well? Thanks!!!!!!!!!!

The cast: Me (wife, 34) DH (36) and DS (ages 8 & 3 1/2)

Our favorite DTD restaurant is Rainforest Cafe. It's always our first stop. Try the quesadillas... YUM!!!

If your children are good during a longer meal than I cannot recommend Jiko highly enough. If they tend to be better at a buffet than go to Boma for dinner too. AKL offers the most amazing dining experiences along with their fantastic atmosphere.

We really like the seafood pasta at Capt Jacks but keep in mind that the restaurants at DD get really busy at dinnertime. We have had 2 hour waits over there unless we go early. We ate at 5:30 and got right in but the lines were huge when we left at 7:00. Save room for Ghiradelli's!:D

we did Boma our first night and it was wonderful. A true taste experience. We all ate until we could not move -- then went and swan and soaked in the hot tub.

I would disagree on the Jiko recommendation. We ate here as well and it was just okay -- nothing special. Once the waiter saw our group (myself 41, my mother 72, and two daughters 10 and 14) and learend we planned on spliting meals, he paid very little attention to us. Our fillet was ordered medium and came rare -- had to be sent back. The pork was raw in the center -- sent back. Had to ask for refills on our soft drinks.

The taste of the food was okay. My pork chops on the grill are better tasteing and the fillet was fine, but nothing special.

Save your money and don't go to Jiko. EAT AT BOMA -- YUM YUM

If you end up at DTD I vote for House of Blues. It's on the West Side rather than the Marketplace. Great food from plain ol' burgers to more adventurous New Orleans-style cuisine.

I vote for WOLFGANG PUCK'S CAFE at DD Westside. DH and I dined there twice on our last trip as the food and the service was wonderful! :jester: :smooth:

The ESPN club at the Boardwalk is great if you like Sports. You can also walk over to the bridge and see the fireworks at Epcot center. We did that on our first night and it worked out great.

Dinner at:

While at Boma, ask for Debbie from Tennessee ~ she's just WONDERFUL!!
(we loved Boma so much, that we made ressies for dinner for a 2nd night a few days later!)

If you want to go to the Marketplace I think rainforest cafe would be great with the kids. We found it very entertaining.

For that first night meal, I would take the bus to the Magic Kingdom and then the boat to Fort Wilderness. You can have dinner at the Trail's End Buffeteria. The food is really good, the meals are reasonable, and there is always a minimal wait. Try to arrive at around 5:00 P.M., that will leave you time to visit the petting zoo before taking the boat back to the Magic Kingdom. Your little ones will have a real great time. Enjoy! :)
