Leaving in 3 short days for the World! I know that some of you may be shocked by this, but I haven't made any firm plans (as yet) for a place to stay on the night of arrival and the night before departure.

Our plane lands Saturday 12/4 @ approx 11pm orlando time. The return flight leaves Orlando Monday 12/13 @ 7:30PM.

Our stay is @ the contemporary resort; check in Sun 12/05 - check out Sun 12/12.

So I need to reserve a room for one night on each end of our stay. As hectic as this may sound to some, I think it will work out just fine for us, as we will have a rental for the duration of our stay, & plan to do a little non-Disney stuff. After some research, I think I am leaning toward the Baymont Inn Orlando (I would guess, about 20-30 mins from the CR & $41 nightly) or perhaps the Baymont inn Kissimee (about 15 mis from the CR & 54 nightly).

I would be open to any other suggestions for a reasonably priced ($40-50/nightly)clean and convenient pace to stay for a family of 5 (many "economy" places limit you to 4).

When we have previously stayed at Baymont Inn's we have been pleased with the accomodations, breakfast and so on, but I am open to others.

The anticipation of our first Disney trip is just so great at this point. :cool1:

Oh, one other thing, accuweather says highs of 80, lows of 60 during most of our week. We really weren't expecting it to be that warm. We should still pack a good mix of shorts & jeans, short sleeves & long sleeves, right. IE, the nights (MVMCP, Candelight Proc, Fantasmic, etc) will be more comfortable in cooler clothes, right?

We camped at Fort Wilderness and there are cabins available, which you may want to check on. I have no idea on what they cost, but I'm sure they are cheaper than the suites available at other Disney resorts.

How old are your children? Mine are 5-1/2 and 7 and they did very well walking the parks from 9am-9pm or so. Most rides have a height limitation of at least 42". We visited all 4 parks over 6 days and even though it was very crowded over the Thanksgiving week, we were able to see and do almost all of things on our "to do" list.

The Contemporary is beautiful and has some good restaurants. We ate at Chef Mickey's there - a buffet and Mickey, Goofy, Minnie, Chip/Dale come around to the tables - my kids loved it! Character meals usually require a preferred seating reservation, but you may luck out since it's not as crowded. Although, hubby and I honeymooned in Disney 14 years ago and were there the same time you are going and there were many restaurants we couldn't get in because we didn't have a preferred seating reservation.

I could tell you a bunch, but if there's something specific I can tell you, let me know! I'm sure there are others here are more versed than I.

First night you might as well stay in the Hyatt that is inside MCO with such a late arrival. Then rent your car in the morning after a good night's sleep.

That's a good idea jeancbpugh. I appreciate the input. It won't save me any money on the rental car though, because I am returning the car @ 6pm Monday. But, I'm gonna check their rates in any case. :D

Edit: checked rates, looks like about $175/nightly. :earseek: More than I am paying for the CR! Still a great thought though. Thanks for the input!

I saw your response to an earlier post suggesting that link, and checked it out. Looks like a fun time, and it's only $55/nightly for a huge room, and includes ride tickets. I know this is silly but I really prefer interior corridors. Have you stayed here before? I can't tell for sure, but it looks like it does not meet that criteria.

Did you check out www.hotelkingdom.com ? They had great prices when we booked. We got Cypress Pointe ( 2 bedroom, full size condo) for 72.00 a night. We saw some great deals on regular hotels.

Yes, thanks for the suggestion, I have checked out that site. As a matter of fact, that's where I got the rates for the Baymont Inn(s). They are typically $69 + nightly, as opposed to the $40 - 55 nightly rates I found on hotelkingdom!

Ouch! Sorry, we've only stayed there on Hyatt points for free in the past.

Hi, the Hampton Inn in LBV gets good review. Don't know about interior corridotors. Another optoin the Best Western downtown disney.

I'm arriving lat eon sunday night and staying offsite Cypress Pointe near this Hampton Inn. Lots of nice hotels in this area.

I am SO glad it will be warm. Two yhears ago, we travelled in first opart of Jan and it was so cold. One thing to remember in Fl this time of year, there is still high humidity and it is a damp cold at night.

herc.

My brother stayed at the LaQuinta suites near the airport. Had interior corridors and a good rate.

You could probably get a 3* or better hotel on Priceline, maybe even the Hyatt itself which I landed for $37 this March. Hyatt seems to have dropped out of the bidding for now, but the Marriott right down the road has been going for $50 - $54 on PL. Others have raved about their shuttle so you could land, shuttle to the hotel, in the morning you shuttle back to MCO, get the car and pick up the rest. I may end up doing this on our last night there as we return the car on 1/9 and we fly out next day. Either that or we bite the bullett and pay rack rate at Hyatt.

I have never (successfully) bid priceline, even though I have looked at it before. The one thing that concerns me is that the rooms are only guaranteed to accomodate 2 adults. So what about our 3 kids then? I am sure that most places would accomodate you assuming they have the availabilty (2 queen or 2 double room). But what if they don't?.... anyone have experience with this? I guess I could ask the same question @ biddingfortravel.com

In any case, I booked the Baymont Inn orlando via hotel kingdom for our 1st night 12/04. Figured I'll get the rental and drive over there and (hopefully) be in bed a little after midnight. Still working on the last night, as of yet.

Five people might be an issue on Priceline. You can genererally get two beds, but...

Also, just to make you feel better. I land at MCO Tuesday at 11. You guessed it... No hotel yet LOL!
