We're having dinner @ Kona and then going to MK afterwards. Can we park at the Poly and then hop on the monorail there to MK or walk to TTC and leave our car at the Poly? I know you can't do that at CR. We are DVC Members so we don't pay for parking anyway at parks. We'd just like to avoid having to move the car again after dinner. Can we do that? TIA

It's just like at CR, parking is for resort guests only (including dining and resort visitors).

What I would do is park at the TTC and then walk to the Poly, there's a short walkway. After dinner, you can hop on the monorail to MK from the Poly, and from MK to TTC at the end of the night.

Thanks so much! That will work out pretty good because my DH will take our 3 yo back to the hotel around 9pm and my older DD and I will stay for EMH.

I too would park at the TTC, take the tram to the front but instead of walking over at that point I would hop the resort monorail to the Poynesian which is the next stop.

The walk is indeed not long but can be confusing if you're not famailiar with it. More importantly, it is fun to arrive for dinner on the monorail. Kona is steps from the doors to the monorail.

If you have ADR at Kona they will give you a 3 hour parking pass which we have used in the past with self-park. We have not stayed beyond that time, but I don't know how they would enforce it unless someone patrols self-park to find the temorary passes. don't want the steer you into getting towed!
Just telling you my experience(they did asked for our res # at the guard gate when we pulled up).

If you are going at a time of year when the resort is not that busy, I would just park at the Poly. I have done this before (and I would not have had to pay for parking either since I have always stayed at WDW resorts) and never had a problem. The parking lot at the Poly is quite big and you are only there a few extra hours in the evening.

Another option is to use the valet service. We had breakfast ADR's at Ohana and used the valet service. We went to MK all day and then when we left we got our car from the valet. It does cost $7 but it is good all day at any resort you go to. We actually used the valet service at WL all week.

We've never had a hard time parking & walking to the park after dinner. Most of the time we've just been waved through once they see our parking tag. We'll be there at the same time and are planning on doing the same thing at CR for CM one night. Hopefully we won't be limited to a 3 hour pass. Do they tow?

Just a comment, when you say you do not pay for parking because you are a DVC member, you mean because of the fact that you are staying at a Disney or DVC resort you do not pay for parking, NOT because you are a DVC member, correct?
Also, as far as just being waved through at the Poly guard shack because you have a parking slip for the resort your staying at, that particular scheme varies wildly. Depending on the time of year and the particular guard, you MAY get waved through, but it is more then likely you will be stopped by the guard, questioned as to what you are doing there, { a meal, site seeing, etc.} then you will be given a 3 hour parking pass to put on top of your resort parking slip {unless you are staying at the Poly, of course} It was true at one time that you would be waved through, but over the last couple of years, things have started getting a lot busier on WDW property, and they have been cracking down on parking.

I was at Disney on Friday and ate at Whispering Canyon, we drove over from AK about 2PM parked at WL and took the boat to Magic Kingdom, we had an ADR for 5:45 at Whispering Canyon and left WL after that (driving) to go to EPCOT.

The way I look at these things, you know when something is right and when something is wrong, best judgement is the best policy.

Sorry, I should have clarified that. I'm a DVC Member and am staying at BCV & OKW during my stay as well. The parking pass is not only for the resort I am at, but also for all the parks. Does everyone staying on WDW property get Free parking at the parks too? Anyway..

I just want to do what's right. If that means parking at TTC and taking the tram and then walking to the Poly it's perfectly fine with us. We have done it before. We have a 2.5 yo and a stroller so I was trying to figure out what would work best, but of course within the rules. I wouldn't want the van to be towed as that happened to me once in college and it wouldn't be fun! :)

I might change my plans anyway to make MK a whole day and just do Kona then instead of park hopping that day. and that would eliminate the whole issue as we would be parked at TTC all day anyway.

Thanks everyone!

Yes, anyone staying at a WDW resort gets free parking at the parks.

Enjoy Kona! :thumbsup2

Ohhh! :rotfl: Must've been having a brain "spasm" at that moment..maybe I am confusing it with valet parking. I don't use the DVC "perks" often..just valet once in awhile and an occaisional other one here and there. Doing the DP this year so we won't be able to use any dining perks (except Ghirardelli maybe). It'll be our 1st time at Kona..DH is really looking forward to the Mahi Mahi! Thanks!!

Actually the parking lot is not that big and as a guest at the resort I have had to park at the TTC and walk to my resort because the lot was full. Guess you had my parking space.

And yes to the question: do they tow.
