Okay so we leave for WDW in 8 days, and I am hooked on all of these trip reports. Work, what is that? I dont think I have done much of anything in the past week besides read these trip reports. So I am going to give it a try and see where I get with posting one for my family.
DH 29 who has been to WDW one time along time ago. Never plans a thing for anything we do, but for some reason has planned everything for this trip.
Me 27 the super excited momma who gets to see her baby girl at WDW for the 1st time.
DD - 4 our little princesses, who is mighty cute I might add.
Background: We are going on our first family vacation that doesnt included visiting family. My dh and I have been going back and forth on when to take dd to WDW. Do we wait until we know for sure she will remember it? Do we make sure she is tall enough to ride most of the rides? Or do we just go for it? Well we decided on a mix between all of them. DD is 4, and we are pretty sure she will not remember the whole trip but will remember bits and pieces of everything. She is ¼ inch under the 40-inch height requirement for most rides. So we are hoping for a growth spurt in 8 days. Not likely to happen, but oh well we will still enjoy ourselves. And we are just going all out, and letting nothing getting in our way of having a great time on this trip.
So in June (yes I know now that most people book a year in advance, but heck we couldnt even decided when to actually go) we got on Disneys website (we hadnt found this board yet L), looked at the different hotels, and decided on the AKL. After we booked our entire trip, room, tickets, dining, etc we decide lets go out and buy a Disney Book. Well 4 Disney books, and this website later we are now staying at the Polynesian. We got so hung up on being able to see animals from our room that we didnt take into consideration anything else. Example how long it would take us to get from the hotel to the parks etc. Nor did we realize that if we would of researched a little more then we would of found discount codes. Oh well we live and learn right?
So we book our dates October 7th through the 14th, we change our hotel to the Polynesian and I am thinking great all we have to do now is sit back and wait for our trip to get here. Boy was I ever wrong. My dh starts going through the 1st of 4 books we bought and starts planning where we are going to eat at, what we are going to do on what days. Mind you we live in S. California so we have been to Disney Land to many times to count. I am thinking WDW is a glorified DL. I never realized all the planning we would have to do. Thankfully my dh was willing to do all of it. J Gotta love him!
We then have to decide when to fly to Orlando. Do we leave Saturday the 7th and waste an entire day traveling? Or do we leave on the 6th, take a red eye to Orlando, and get there at 8:30 in the morning. We decided that we would risk being tired and take the red eye.
Then in the middle of August I hear about the Bippidi Boppidi Boutique. How can I not take our princess there? So I convince dh that instead of bringing a costume for the MNSSHP, we would do the boutique the day of and she could go as a princesses. Great idea right? Now for all you people that book everything a year in advance, and us not even booking our trip 180 days in advance this became a challenge. I was determined that dd would go to the BBB, and I was determined that she would go the day we had MNSSHP. I called, dh called, everything was booked. We tried calling back numerous times. Then I found this wonderful board and was told to keep calling maybe someone would cancel. Well low and behold I called and was able to pick whatever time I wanted on the 10th. How this happened, I have no idea, but all I know is we have an appt at 3:00 on the 10th and my dd is going to become Belle.
To say we are excited is an understatement. We have gone all out for this trip, since this is our first time, and we know we will not be back for a long time. I cant wait to be able to come back on this board and report what a wonderful time we had.
I have attached our itinerary at the bottom of this page. If you have any advice for us 1st timers, please share.
