Planning our first trip as DVC members this August.:cool1: Staying at Saratoga Springs on dev points then moving to Kidani Village. Will be arriving late at night (long flight from California) and taking ME to Saratoga. Will be just me and DS10 and DS7, DH arriving next am.

Am a bit intimidated by size of Saratoga. Previous trips to WDW have stayed at WL (and LOVED it!) Will we need to hike a mile late at night to our room with our luggage?

Just the first of many questions as we plan our summer trip!

First, Welcome home! and do not feel intimidated by SSR - it is lovely and has a great feel!

Second, using the ME truely provides magic, in that, your luggage is delivered to your room. but be aware that it may be a few hours behind you. DW and I have never had it longer than 3 hours (morning arrival).

Third, ask to be taken to your room if it is late at night. Bell services uses carts with six or more seats to run around in. Tell them you are new, ask for a ride if it is late at night (not sure what you mean by late at night).

Don't be intimidated by SSR. We spent a week there last Christmas and we loved it. We're at BCV now, and DH and DS are whining the whole time wishing we were at SSR. While I do love BCV, no one else in the family does. Moving to Kidani next week, and hoping they'll like it.

Thanks for the kind words! :yay:

We are all very excited about our stay at SSR. I am very glad to hear they will give us a ride! Our flight does not land until 10 pm and trying to find my way in the dark did not sound fun!

SSR is beautiful and it is the only resort I've stayed at so far. My first visit home will be in Sept. to AKV Kidani. When you arrive at MCO, you may have to wait for your luggage before heading to magical express depending upon your flight time.

The CM's have been very courteous and helpful both times I stayed there (on developer points) and I am sure they will happily bring you and your luggage to your room.

Have a wonderful trip!!

I think you will really enjoy SSR. My only concern for you is actually the time of year. I am from California and nothing prepared me for the sweltering humidity that I experienced on my first (and Only) august trip. If you have been before in the summer, then no problem. But if not, be prepared for summer weather that is alot different than California.

Welcome Home! We had our first stay in March and loved it. We requested a room close to a bus stop and close to the main pool and restaurants. We got what we requested at The Springs and loved it! The studio we stayed in was nice and comfortable for the 3 of us (2 adults and 3 year-old DGD. Staying in 2 weeks at SSR in a 1 bedroom and really looking forward to it. Enjoy your stay!

Absolutely be prepared for the heat and humidity. We always come back to the room to swim and nap from about lunch time to 4 or 5 in the afternoon. Makes all the difference in the world!

We're doing the opposite-a week at Kidani and then using our DP at SSR before we go home. The resort looks beautiful-looking forward to staying there. Have a great vacation!

If you want to use ME I would pack a carry on that has what you will need for the first night and then they can deliver your luggage the next morning. If you really need your luggage don't use the yellow ME tags and get it at the baggage pickup area before going to the ME area. They will put it under the bus for transport to SSR.

We are here now for our second stay at SSR and we really like the resort even tho I never thought I would! Last year we were in the Paddock and this time we are in Carousel on the ground floor and literally a hop, skip & jump from the bus stop! The size of the resort can be intimidating, but we feel comfortable here. Hope that you will enjoy it also!

This is just a suggestion that has been working for us this week. We have not bothered with the main or small pool here all week but instead have been going off to Typhoon lagoon (a short bus ride) late afternoon as it closes (now) at 7:30. The place has cleared out a lot by the time we get there and we have not waited long for any of the water rides. The wave pool has also been bearable. It is a great escape from the heat.

Thanks for the tip on Typhoon Lagoon! :thumbsup2

Also thanks for the tips on luggage. DH will be taking a different flight to MCO the day after we arrive, so the extra baggage fee is worth it to me to have him deal with it! :woohoo: Myself and DS 10 and DS 7 will only have a small bag (hopefully just a carry-on) to transport ourselves. We arrive at 11 at night, so luggage delivery isn't an option for us.

Thanks for all the SSR tips! I have learned so much and am getting so excited for our trip!

Now if I just had the time to set up a signature!
