Can anyone tell me what type of food is offered on the luncheon buffet on the first day? DH is asking! Thanks.

Cold salads, cold cuts, shrimp with the shell on, usually some kind of pasta with marinara sauce, carved meat (turkey or beef or pork), possibly fish and chicken, desserts (many!), rolls, bread. Your regular smorgasbord. Lots of choices for everyone. Chicken tenders, etc for the kids.

Our 4 year old did not want anything from the buffet, and a CM heard herd say that she did not want what was there.

She took the 4 y/o and came back a few minutes later with a plate full of "kid food"... hot dog, mac and cheese, and french fries.

I later found out that they took her to Goofy's by the pool to get her the food.

It set the tone for the entire trip.

Well worth what I paid for the trip, the kids got incredibly spoiled!

Hi,
No the shrimp is not spicy, just nicely seasoned. We ate in the Parrot Cay, and although I believe the selection is the same, the waiters serve you drinks in Parrot Cay as opposed to Beach Blanket which is serve yourself. Also in Parrot Cay they assign you a table (we got there early and had a window seat), whereas Beach Blanket is self seating in or out. I am not a buffet person, and this was great.

Also, there are two separate buffet lines in Parrot Cay, one for the kids and one for everyone else, although adults and children can pick from either. Desserts were awesome!

So, would you experienced Wonder cruisers recommend that we first timers try Parrott Cay or Beach Blanket buffet for our first lunch meal?

On our last two cruises we have tried to go to Parrot Cay for lunch and were redirected up to the buffet on Deck 9. I think that they seat people in Parrot Cay first and then send everyone else upstairs. Maybe if you are one of the first to board you can get into Parrot Cay.

I prefer going to Parrot Cay - easier to move around their buffet table and it's my favorite restaurant to boot!!!

They tried to redirect us too. They didn't have a free table for us. I really wanted to eat at Parot Cay, so I asked if we could go check out our room (it was 12:55pm and rooms were to be ready at 1pm) and come back. They were very nice about it and when we came back, around 1:20pm, they had a table for us.

I also think they redirect you to evenly distribute guests. We were redirected but came to our senses a few steps toward the elevator (reminds me of "A Christmas Story" with the slide and the football - anyone else???) and walked into Parrot Cay - the room was less than half full...

I would recommend Parrot Cay over beach blanket buffet. The atmosphere in Parrot Cay is much nicer. The food is good at beach blanket, but it reminds me of a cafeteria where Parrot Cay is more like a nice restaurant. Just my opinion....
