1st bday ... wdw cake ideas?

Hi guys- celebrating ds's 1st bday at WDW! When we get home, we want to have party for family and a few friends. I was wondering if anyone has any cake ideas they have made or seen to share. We thought of a Mickey cake with two round cakes and one larger round cake ... but I know black icing usually tastes horrid. Sooooooo, was wondering if anyone had done something besides Mickey?

I understood your post to be you are celebrating your Sons b-day.

I recommend to people short on time, to make their favorite shaped cake, and decorate it with the little PVC figure packs available at the Disney Store.
Right now there is a Toy Story pack on clearance in some stores. The regular full price ones are $12.50

Unless you have your heart set on Mickey.

I have had success making good-tasting black frosting for a 101 dalmatians cake. I think the key is starting with chocolate frosting instead of white frosting (you don't have to add nearly as much color to chocolate frosting and therefore the taste isn't compromised as much).

You could get a can of store bought chocolate & some black coloring and see how it goes.

Wilton has several Disney cake pans. Pooh, Tigger, etc. in addition to Mickey, Minnie, etc.
