I'm not sure if I am supposed to start one of these here or not, but here I go anyway! :cool1:

It's officially ONE MONTH until our 1st Wedding Anniversary AND VERY FIRST Disneyland trip!!

Now usually, we are Disney World "people". This year for vacation though, we thought we'd like to do something different. So, we decided to branch out and see something new! What better place to visit than the place where the magic all began?! I've wanted to visit Disneyland ever since I was a little girl. As a big time Disney Channel watcher from the moment I was born, I remember seeing those black and white Walt Disney specials of Disneyland! I remember watching Walt paddle in the Canoes and ride the Mark Twain Steamboat and It's a Small World! Finally, my dream is coming true!!

Ever since I went to Disney World in high school on a family vacation and saw the Bride/Groom couples walking around the parks, I thought, "THIS is the place I want to be for my Honeymoon!"

Well, I found a Disney lover like myself and where did we end up for our Honeymoon? You guessed it! Disney World!! We were married on April 7, 2007 and spent 1 week at the Port Orleans Riverside Resort - a wonderful week filled with fun and magical surprises!

As a true lover of Photography, I'm going to share quite a bit of pictures here!! I also plan to take a ton of pictures at the parks for my Trip Report when I return!! :woohoo:

The Dates:
April 7-April 13, 2008

The Place:
Paradise Pier Resort; Disneyland, CA!

The Cast of Characters:

Me: Karen - 25 year old Registered Nurse
disney12.jpg

DH: Jason - 28 year old in Plant Operations
disney11.jpg

My Puppy who cannot come along: Meet: Princess Pixie - The most spoiled 4lb. Yorkshire Terrier that you will ever see!!
tink12.jpg

This is her dressed as Tinkerbell for Halloween!!

Apparently, we picked a "good" time to go to Disneyland becuase we got to take part in the pay for 3 days of park ticket's and receive "two free" tickets promotion!! We are also receiving a $150.00 Disney Gift Card.....and since we opted out on the Dining "Plan", we are going to use that card for FOOD!

I requested a King Bed (we'll see if I get it or not!) and I also asked her to make note of our Anniversary. She asked if we had been to DL before. When I told her no, she said that we could get the "1st time" buttons! We're going to have 1st time buttons AND Anniversary buttons!! Guess we'll be all "buttoned" out!! :rotfl2:

We will be flying into the John Wayne Airport (SNA) and we will not be renting a car. I definitely didn't want to take a taxie and since Disneyland does not have Magical Express, we booked a Motor Coach to take us from the airport to Disneyland. The price for the Motor Coach is included in the total cost of the reservation. It ended up being $48.00 extra for both Jason and I to get from the airport to DL and then back to the airport again. The only thing with it is that you have to get your own luggage and haul it all over tarnation. Oh well....I know DL is limited with their size and everything so that's fine with me!

This will be...........Karen and Jason's trip of RELAXATION and FUN! Absolutely NO rushing!!! We'll see how well that one goes over!! :rotfl2:

Yay.......I think I'm first!

I'm so excited to hear about your trip to DL! I can't believe that you leave in a month!!! :yay: I'm interested in hearing what you think about DL, being a WDW vet. We loved our time spent at DL this past summer! Some things are the same as WDW, and others are so different. Plus, it's Walt's original park! :goodvibes

By the way, your yorkie is absolutely adorable!!!

I'm second. If you haven't already read HydroGuy's tip thread, i've pasted below.

All are good, but print the abreviation page first & then read his DLR for WDW vets thread....essential reading for the WDW vet.

The PP is nice, but be VERY familiar with how to walk thru the GCH to both DLR & also the secret entrance into DCA. It will save alot of steps & time.

& read SpartanGirl's excellent trip report....maybe she can score you some box seats for the parade. :thumbsup2

Looking forward to a good read & some cool pics. Have a great time. :hippie:

HEY thanks for reading!! I didn't expect to see you over here but I'm SO GLAD that you are!!! :woohoo: I LOVED your Trip Report. That was the FIRST thing that I read when I came to the Disneyland side of the boards. Jason and I read it together. Once we were finished, I said "OK, I'm sold!" :rotfl2:

Thank you...my Yorkie is one spoiled rotten puppy!!

Thanks for ALL of the great advice! Every single information forum that Hydroguy has is printed and in my folder ready to go!! I have so many papers with information ... don't know if I can remember it all, but at least I'll have it if I need it!!

Thanks for letting me know about DLH and GCH...I was planning on doing a "resort" day/DTD day but we'll be sure to walk extra slow through the two resorts!!

Spartangirls TR was the first one that I read before we booked the trip and it was awesome...I definitely agree! I just wish that we had the time to rent a car and take a tour of Cali like they did!

Thanks for all the great advice!!

Mode of Transportation:
Contenintal Airlines - Flying from Houston to Orange County

Once in Disneyland, our mode of transportation will be the "Nike Express" aka, we won't have a car! :rotfl2: Don't mind walking, though!!

Guidebooks:
Passporter Delux - Disneyland Refill
Birnbaum's Disneyland
DIS BOARDS, OF COURSE!!

Sunday, April 13, 2008 - Early flight out! Leave to go home!

I think we might add House of Blues or ESPN Zone in there somewhere but I'm not sure where. I don't want to spend a fortune on food so we also might not do either restaurant. I'm not sure. If I had to cut one restaurant out of the list, that would be the one.

Hi  this looks like it will be a fun trip report.
I am a nurse too.
We will be going to DL in December & I can't wait so I will live vicariously through you if that's ok since my trip is still pretty far away.

Welcome! DH and I wanted a WDW honeymoon... :lovestruc too bad we were too young and broke to afford it. So we went to DL for our first anniversary! You will love it. And a wonderful time of year to go, too!
Can't wait to see your pictures!

A little background history.

As far as I can remember, Disney has been all around me, LITERALLY!!

See my nursery??

disney19.jpg

Disney Wallpaper!!

And our car ride home from my very first Disney World trip?

disney20.jpg

Mickey Mouse! I carried him EVERYWHERE I went for YEARS!!!

disney21.jpg

See what I mean??

disney1.jpg

This is my brother and I on our 3rd trip to Disney World! Those matching outfits KILL me....my brother HATES this picture!! :rotfl2: We were wearing these outfits because my grandmother sewed them and she was along for this trip!! :rotfl2:

Sadly, that trip was my brother and my last family trip until 1999. We were both a lot older!!

disney3.jpg

I thought I was in Heaven! Of course a lot of things had changed since the last time we had visited, but a lot of things were still the same!!

THIS trip was the FIRST time that I had seen adults walking around wearing the Bride/Groom EARS and I knew in that instant, that I wanted to visit Disney World for my honeymoon. I just had to SNAG the right guy who would agree with me!! :rotfl2:

In the meantime, I visited WDW one more time with my parents in 2003. It was for my brother's senior trip. He was off with his friends and all three of us were together for the entire week!! I had a BLAST!

Then there's Jason.

Although he hasn't visited WDW very many times, he still loves the place!

His first trip was as a Junior in High School for band!

disney5.jpg

Marching in a parade!

Many years later, as an Assistant Band Director for the same school that he graduated high school from, he returned with his band!

disney7.jpg

Him with his sister.

Even though he had "been" to Disney World....he had never really "BEEN" to Disney World. There were SO many things that he hadn't seen/done!

Soooo, when we started looking at rings, of course the first question out of my mouth was (not ... where do you want to get married or when) "CAN WE GO TO DISNEY WORLD ON OUR HONEYMOON?!" :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

disney8.jpg

He of course agreed.

Our engagement pictures.

We got married in our hometown of Louisiana on April 7, 2007. We were married at the Church that we both grew up in together and still attend, Glad Tidings Church!

Since we were going to Disney World on our Honeymoon, I wanted a few "magical touches" at our Wedding/Reception. Our reception was at a place not too far from the church called "Reeves Uptown". The theme for decorating the reception was more of a Spring-y feel with a few Disney Touches here and there!

Example........

Our Honeymoon in Disney World was from April 8, 2007 - April 15, 2007.

You can read all about it in a completed Trip Report here - Dream a Dream - Jason and Karen's DW Honeymoon TR. (Shameless TR plug!!!) :rotfl:

We stayed at Port Orleans Riverside Resort.

With Mickey again for the first time since I was 6 years old!

As our wedding fast approached, I realized that my parent's 30th Anniversary was fast approaching as well!! 30 years...that's a BIG deal! Their Anniversary is only 12 days before ours! Feeling down because I couldn't do anything "special" for them (at the time), we took them out to dinner with the promise of a BETTER surprise coming up!

We planned a Disney World Christmas trip for them with LOTS of surprises! All they knew was that we were going. They didn't know any of the special plans in store!!

With that said, here's another shameless Trip Report plug! :rotfl2: A Very Merry Magical Disney World Christmas It's not quite finished. I'm still working on it!

Anyway, my parent's were super surprised and loved the entire trip!

The beautiful Castle!!

When we returned home, Jason started looking into Vacation time for 2008. He was told that he could take 1 week, but it had to be January, February, March, or April!! That meant that we had to get to PLANNING! We decided to take vacation during the week of our Anniversary with April 7 being our actual Anniversary day and the first day of our trip!!

We looked at a Disney Cruise, we looked again at Disney World (we wanted a change), we looked at not doing Disney at all (YEAH RIGHT...that idea was shot down right away), then Jason had an idea! What about a trip to California and Disneyland?! :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

Perfect!!!!

With 23 days left to go, the control freak planner in me is not quite yet in panic mode but will be soon! I still have a TON left to do and not a lot of time to do it all in!!!!

Thanks for reading along, everyone! I'm going to continue updating as plans for the trip fall into place! :goodvibes

I'm so excited about Disneyland and I can't wait to see what's in store for us!!

I am so excited to read your trip report! We also honeymooned at WDW last year, but our "home" resort is DL. If you have any questions, just ask.

One question for you, where did you get that adorable Tinkerbell outfit? Our Pomeranian is the same size, and she totally needs to be Tink for Halloween this year!
