We have 3 kids ages 7-11 so we're looking at a 1 bedroom. Some of them appear to sleep 4 while some sleep 5. Any recommendations on which resorts to look at? We'll be renting points and are thinking of a split stay. Thanks!

I’m not sure about 4 vs 5 and others will weigh in but something to consider is that Kidani and Bay Lake Tower 1 bedrooms have a complete 2nd bathroom not just a split.

BCV, BWV, CCV, BRV and Jambo Value all sleep 4 in a 1BR. Perhaps SSR as well but I have not stayed there since the rooms were renovated. In some cases, you can have a 5th person but have to provide your own bedding. CCV and Jambo Value are a hard 4 with no exceptions.

I second the recommendation of BTL and AK Kidani due to 2 full bathrooms.
OKW 1br is huge at 1005 sqft (BLT 803sqft Kidani 807sqft)

BLT and AKV-Kidani have 2 full baths and sleep 5 without needing to bring bedding.

We've also stayed at RIV and VGF 1br that have a split bath and sleep 5 in Murphy beds, much more comfortable than pull outs. But: I actually prefer the split bath setup in the studios at RIV and VGF (and Poly) over the bathroom layouts in the 1br.

SSR now sleeps 5 with the flip down TV as well as the murphy sofa. I LOVE SSR and totally recommend.

But as mentioned AKV- Kidani has the extra bathroom. Also has the sleeper chair as well as the sofa. BLT too. VGF has a 2part bathroom and is super spacious. Think they have a flip down bed. RR is the same. ALso mentioned, OKW is very spacious and has the sleeper chair as well as sofa.

Another possible is a Poly studio as they sleep 5 and have the 2 part bathrooms. They also are within walking to the TTC for great transportation.

Cannot have 5 in CCV 1BR or AKV Jambo value 1BR. But can book 5 in BWV, BRV, BCV. Though they don't have the sleeping space for the 5th so you need to bring an airbed.

All I can say is the 1-bedroom in Kidani was amazing. Was there in August. We loved it. The 2 bathrooms were great. The pull-out couch plus the sleeper seat work well and the King bed is very comfortable. Of course, you have no "non-bus" transportation, but we loved the resort and that didn't bother us. The little shuttle over to Jambo was also nice and it was there all of the time. Never had to wait so if I didn't want to walk to the other resort for other food options, it was there.

I totally second this, Kidani 1 bedroom is fantastic with kiddo's. As a bonus, the pool and splash area at Kidani is fantastic fun for littles. For us the pool and splash areas are almost as important as villa space!

We took our 3 kids to Disney for many years, starting when there were only 2 little kids and a bun in the oven. Now they are grown and gone, and we have millions of amazing memories. My recommendation is to get the 2 bedroom villa and stay there for the entire trip, much more peaceful and fun than moving. More space, everyone is happy.

1BR at BLT and Kidani are excellent. I prefer both of those rooms to Grand Floridian 1BRs but like the location of GF better. Old Key West is huge if you want lots of space and a large balcony, but I don’t like the location at all. All 3 sleep 5.
We did 3 in a Poly Studio before and felt very cramped, but we are also used to the space of a 1BR. I like to unpack and there isn‘t enough drawer space for 2-3 people, never mind 5.

I would only look at updated rooms that have a pull down murphy personally.

RIV/VGF = More expensive, closer to parks
SSR/OKW = Less expensive, only bus and spread out resorts

Not sure when you are going but by the end of this year we should see BRV(VWL) updated as well. Then by the end of 2023 you will see AKV and BLT get the pull down murphy beds. Its not 100% but its a pretty good bet they will get them.
