Where are these units? Are they the original 1 BR units in the lodge down at the end. They also tell me that no savanna view is guaranteed. What is this about

I believe the majority of the units on the Concierge level (6th floor) are
non-dedicated two bedrooms - meaning its a 1 bedroom combined with a studio. There are 3 2BR's on the Sunset Savanah side and two 2BR's on the poolside. Because of the limited amount of rooms available on the concierge level you pretty much get what is available on your vacation dates.

In the past - before DVC - we would request a 5th floor savanah view room with concierge priveleges so we could get a savanah view but they won't do that anymore - believe me I've tried - just this past week as a matter of fact. DVC won't allow it anymore.
:confused3

AKV Concierge consists of five 2BR lockoffs on the 6th floor. The rooms run along either side of the AKL lobby. Since they are lockoffs, they can be "locked off" and rented as a 1BR and a studio so at most there are five 1BRs available, but likely fewer since they probably rent out at least one of those lockoffs as a 2BR. Savanna view is just a request. The view from the 6th floor isn't that great but I would still take a savanna view over a pool view if I had a choice.

Since DVC took over most of the 5th floor and all of the 6th floor of AKL, the AKL Concierge guests now stay on the 4th floor.

I want to try to get the 1BR way at the end of the hall. I think there are about 4 of them half facing Arush and half facing Uzima. I really don't want one along the long hallway. is there a way to specify this?

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by the rooms way at the end of the hall. This map may be helpful: http://www.parkinfo2go.com/dvc-akv/floor5-large.html It shows the 5th floor AKV rooms. It doesn't show the Concierge rooms, but they are located directly above rooms 5202-5209 and 5401-5406 on this map, along either side of the lobby.

Also, are you talking about AKL Concierge or AKV Concierge? AKL is the hotel (Animal Kingdom Lodge) and AKV is the DVC resort (Animal Kingdom Villas).

I guess I am all wrong. We are staying at AKV not AKL (at least that is what the confirmation says. I was thinking the one BR were at the veryend of Zebra and Kudu Trails in the 'Y' shaped sections. On my map it showed 5571-5596 and 5541-5566. I loved the lrge balconys and the thatched roofs. From your map, it looks like that is not correct. It seem 5593 and 5395 take up the entire 'end' as part of the Grand Villas What do you suggest I request? I am not familiar with the renovated portions at all. We have stayed in th AKL many times but this configuration is different. At any rate thank you so much for the map.

I had the same question..Thanks lisa for the great map! Since the DVC portion is on the 6th floor I assume the one-bedrooms that face the savanah are 6202, 6205 and 6208. Has anyone stayed in these rooms? If so, comments?
Thanks!

When they converted the rooms on the 5th floor of AKL into AKVillas, they took the 6 rooms at the end of each hallway "spur" and made them into Grand Villas.

As far as what to request, what did you book? If you booked a Concierge 1BR, then you can request a savanna view but it is just a request. Savanna view is not guaranteed. There are very few Concierge rooms and they face either the Sunset Savanna or the pool and the room assigner decides which view you get.

If you booked a Savanna View 1BR, then you can request a particular savanna, and you could request to be close to the lobby, or whatever your preference might be. But again, these are just requests and you could end up having none of them met. For example, lots of people request the Arusha Savanna but since only about 30% of the Savanna View rooms face that savanna, not everyone can be accommodated there. So by all means add a request if something is important to you, but just keep in mind that it's only a request, not a guarantee.

The Concierge rooms that face the savanna are not exactly the same configuration as the rooms on the 5th floor. The rooms that face the pool are the same as the rooms on the 5th floor.

Just an FYI: Room 6202 is a HA 1BR and does not have a whirlpool tub. It has a roll-in shower instead of the usual whirlpool tub/shower combo that is used in the Jambo House 1BRs.

Concierge rooms that face the Sunset Savanna:
6201 Studio
6202 1BR HA Roll-in shower, no whirlpool tub!
6205 1BR HA with tub
6206 Studio
6208 1BR
6209 Studio

Concierge rooms that face the pool:
6401 Studio
6402 1BR
6405 1BR
6406 Studio

We have a CL room reserved but have not requested any particular view. Is there really any advantage to calling MS just to add a request for a savanna view? -- Suzanne

I would call MS and have it noted on the reservation if that is what you would prefer. If the room assigner has a choice of where to put you, they will know that you have a preference.
