$199 3-day park hoppers (help!)

So the other night at our local grocery store (Safeway) I saw that they had Disneyland 3 day adult park hoppers for $199 and of course I was entirely stoked and bought three of them for our upcoming trip! I had no problem buying them and got the reciept. Now when I got home I noticed at the very top of them it says valid for sale through may 28 2012. Now my question is, are they activated the second I purchase them and is there a problem with them since it says the valid through may 28th? Did I luck out and get them at old prices or am I screwed because theres going to be a problem with them at the turnstiles? Any help or advice on this would be greatly appreciated because now I'm stressing!!

I am 99.9% sure that it is fine.It should have a date that it is valid until.12/31
As long as it is activated by the last day of this year it should be good.
I am sure if this info is not correct someone will pop in shortly and give you better info but after all the hoopla about the price increases,I am pretty sure it's correct.

Actually I don't think those are fine. Those tickets were the spring promotional tickets and first use had to be by May 28; they should have been removed from store shelves by now. Seems you would have two options. One, return them to the store you purchased them from on the grounds that it is the store's error to have sold them to you. Two, take them to the ticket booth at Disneyland and apply what you spent on them toward the purchase of your tickets. Disney will not allow you to use them without charging you the difference between what you actually paid and the current gate price, but my understanding is that "expired" tickets are not lost money but instead can be used as credit towards the purchase of current priced tickets. I have no experience in trying this though, so your most accurate information will come from someone who has done this or from a Disney CM (if you get one who knows).

Those were the promotional tickets they ran through the spring. They aren't still valid. I would return them to the store. They shouldn't be selling expired tickets

Pick up the phone, call Disney, and ask. My local safeway in western washington still has advance park hopper tickets for sale, as does wally world. Have not taken the time to check for dates on them though but, there are a lot of them in the stores....

Man that's jacked! I'm super irked that the store would actually still have these on the shelves and they had a bunch of them too! I guess it's my fault too for not fully reading everything on it. I was just too excited thank you guys for the answers I'm on my way back to get them returned. It's good to know we can just add money to them if need be at the park.

I just called guest information and ticket sales and the cm told me that we would have to pay the $50 more to each of them to be able to use them. I then told the cm that they may want to check into stores that are still selling them and he told me he his manager is looking into it.

Totally agree that the store should not be selling expired tickets and the safest course is to return them. I was just trying to reassure the OP that the money was probably not "lost" so long as the OP was intending to go to Disneyland.

I totally missed the part where it said the first use by May 28th too. I would run, not walk, back to the store and ask for (demand) a complete refund.

Well I got them returned no problem and had three different people apologize at the store for it. Im happy they also took down all the others they still had out so no one else would make the same mistake I did. Still a bummer, oh well! Thanks again guys for the help!

Sorry you had trouble. I sent my dh to get our passes at our local grocery store back in January. I forgot that I already had an AP and bought one extra. The grocery store would not let us return it.

I brought it to Disney and they let me apply the amount to upgrading my family's passes to APs.

Disney is always a joy to work with...I'm sure they would have worked with you.

At least you got a refund! I was thinking that they wouldn't give you one since it was a gift card technically. I know a few stores might not have been willing to give one to you.

Yeah, at worst they would have applied the amount paid to the current price.
