50 guests, ceremony, wedding planner, photographer, dessert party, 4 nights for couple at the Grand Floridian. All for $198,000 at Sams Club. REALLY? Am I that out of touch?

My Mother-in-law called me tonight to tell me about this. Since DD is only 9, I'm not really sure why she called, but whatever! :confused3 I guess she just thought it was interesting.

It's crazy. Who in their right mind would do that? You could have a week long wedding around here for that kind of cash!

That figure doesn't even include dinner?

Are we sure that number doesn't have an extra zero tacked on that's a typo? It's impossible to comprehend that it could cost that much.

Here are the details from the Sam's Club website. $200k is insane for a wedding, even with all that's included. I'm planning mine right now, and we've got our budget at $10k.

Well, now, that price does include a celebrity consultant. I guess that makes it worth the cost. :teeth:

Doesn't it kinda sound like it's in a dark parking lot where they line up the parade floats?:lmao:

Apparently there is one one of these packages, so ya better jump on it. No refunds either.

This is entirely plausible because it's a Magic Kingdom ceremony. FTW stopped doing those awhile ago. I think they were up around $100-150K to start the last I heard? Anyway, that's why the steep price tag. And there have been a few who paid it, but they also were able to use a few of the rides, like the Carousel and Dumbo.

Getting married elsewhere at Disney is much more reasonable. At least, it was 5 years ago.

Well I am having my vow renewal there in a few days and can tell you first hand it is expensive and you can go really crazy with the decor. 50 guests are costing me $30,000. With that said, the price of $200,000 seems about right since it's being held at the MK. You can't have a ceremony there during park hours and you can't have a reception there at all. I'm sure there are plenty people out there with money who would pay $200,000 to get married at the MK. So, this package being offered is a "dream" package because you can't buy most of the things it offers.

But why would you want to have a ceremony during park hours, having everyone look at you and hearing a bunch of tired little kids pitch temper tamtrums. The rest sounds ok, but not that.

Yeah I agree!:lmao:
But right now if you want a ceremony at the MK it is very early, like 8am or something like that! I can't even imagine having a ceremony that early, even if it is for the MK.

Dd told me last week she wanted her wedding at WDW. Its a good thing she's only 11, it looks like I'll need all those years to save up for it :lmao:

I just don't understand people spending the equivalent of a mortgage on their wedding, no matter where it is :confused3

They are pricing an experience that normally can't be purchased, so they can call it as they see it. They can call the float arrival a $10K value and the "secret location" venue a $20K value, when in reality it has no value, because it isn't something that the average person can purchase.

Plus, the marketing value of the $200K wedding is generating publicity and people like us are falling for it hook, line & sinker. Probably no one is going to purchase this package. But the publicity they are getting is priceless.

I dunno....I think they'll sell a good number of these packages to spoiled little "daddy's girls". :sad2:

For us average Joe's who couldn't save that up for a lifetime it sound pretty stupid. I agree. You're no less married if the ceremony is at the GF Pavillion, the Boardwalk or the Court House. Go ahead, blow your house downpayment on your wedding. I dont' give a ..........;)

Ugh. I think it would be very annoying to get to Disneyworld for a trip and be forced to watch someone's wedding. The whole place will be decorated for it and would ruin my pictures. Oh, and I'm jealous of whoever gets it.

I could see that amount of money IF the ceremony was not during theme park hours and if the reception was held in one of the lands. It sounds like the reception is held in a utilidoor corridor.
