I am looking for ideas. DD13's girl scout troop is heading up to Orlando next week. There will be 9 girls and 7 Mom's. Last year we stayed on property & went to EPCOT. I organized a visit to Beaches & Cream for the kitchen sink, and a breakfast at Whispering Canyon the day we checked out. Now this year we are just going to stay off site at Flamingo Waterpark on 192 & the turnpike.
Since I amazed everyone last year, I have been tasked with planning the lunch, dinner and breakfast. (Note to self, no good deed goes unrewarded!) I know I can't match a Disney experience.

All I am thinking is getting some pizzas and a few 2 liters of soda for dinner ( I will pick up and bring back to the hotel) then maybe heading out for ice cream someplace on 192. This is because I am thinking that the girls will not want to leave the water park, shower, do their hair, and dress. to go to dinner.
Then for breakfast when we leave, stop at Ihop. I know it is not close to the experience last year, but if anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate hearing them.

hey happen to like Perkins - okay not a disney experience - but cheaper and definitely friendlier.

Golden Coral - it is a buffet and pretty good food.

you realize this is pretty far from WDW?

could not find an address for it - do you have one>

Is this just a trip to the hotel for the water park or are you going to the parks, too?

It is about 20 miles from Disney and it can take about 45-50 minutes in pretty heavy traffic depending on the time-especially in the mornings when tourists are heading to the parks and locals are driving to work etc.

It is on the east side which can be sort of iffy,

There are a couple Perkins, several McDonalds, Burgerkings in the area. There is a CiCis Pizza pretty close and the girls wouldn't have to dress fancy for that.

We will be staying at the hotel ( Flamingo Waterpark "resort" ) for the night.

On this trip we will not be visiting Disney. This will just be an overnight trip, arriving about 11am on Saturday and leaving sometime on Sunday. The hotel waterpark will be where we spend the majority of our time. Each year troop takes an "end of the year trip" This year they wanted to hang at a watermark. SOmeone found Flamingo Waterpark/resort online and booked it.

That area is actually residential. You won't find too many touristy spots. Also, as you head west on 192 into Kissimmee, you run into some very sketchy neighborhoods very quickly.

About the only ice cream place I can think of in Kissimmee on 192 around there is McDonalds. There might be one in St Cloud, as you head east (only 5 or 10 minutes)--possibly a Basken Robbins in with the Dunkin Donuts? Probably best to look for a pizza place in St Cloud, as well.
