Can someone tell me about dinner at 1900 Park Faire? We were last there before the renovation when they had the Fairy Godmother, Cindy, Prince and the mice. I have heard they now have the stepsisters/stepmother. Did they drop some of the other characters?

Also, is there some kind of show now? Or a dance? I thought I read something about that. Is the food the same as before? Any other changes?

DDs really liked this dinner when we took them but just wondering what the changes are like. Thanks! JJ

We just went there last week and did not know they had done a renovation. This used to be our favorite character meal, before the renovation. I thought the food selection was horrible. There is no more fresh pasta stand which we really liked. There seemed to be only a few things to choose from. Even the way it is set up now is bad now. You kind of walk into a small area to get your food where everyone just crams together to get what thay want. There is no flow to the line. I don't want to say the food was bad, it just was not what it used to be at all. If we weren't on the free dining plan I would not have liked paying $145 for this food

As far as the characteras go there was the step sisters, which were entertaining, the step mother, Cindy and the prince. At one point they played music and they picked people to dance with. One of my kids dropped some food on the floor while the stepmother was at our table. She said " oh I'll take care of that". She then yelled across the room for Cinderella to come clean it up.

Overall I would have to say the characters are much better that they used to be. That part of it was alot more fun. Except that the prince did not look anything like "The Prince". But I would have to give the food a big thumbs down.

Thanks for the detail about this meal - I am pleased to know that there's more character activity!

Was anything good food wise?

I'm trying to remember what they had there, we had 10 nights on the free dining plan and this was one our first meals. They had the meat station where the guy was cutting prime rib and I think pork. The prime rib was good I didn't have the pork. They had green beans made with garlic, mashed potatoes, rice, some kind of weird fish, some kind of weird chicken in a weird sauce mixture. I didn't even try the fish or chicken. My wife had the chicken and said it was horrible. They also had sesame beef stir fry that I did try and did not like. The prime rib, green beans, and potatoes were the only things I liked. I just remembered this meal being so good. I remember there being a much bigger selection, even for the kids. We had been there for dinner two times before and really loved it. This trip we were looking foward to eating there and thought it was a big let down.

:) But the characters were fun:)

LOL - that is very funny that she knew right what to say. :lmao:

We also ate there last week and I also did not care for the food. The ceasar salad was good but everything else was dry or not very fresh. And the seating is so cramped. Where we were seated there were benches on one side of the table and chairs on the other and it was like sitting at the same table with you neighbor and really tight getting up. The stepmother is hilarious. I was taking a picture of Cinderella and the Prince dancing and she came up behind me and said "Haven't you ever seen 2 people dance before?" We also had to wait 1.5 hours past our ADR time. All the other resturants we dined at we waited 20 minutes max. I also didn't like the way the prince talked to the dad at the table next to us. He asked if Cindy and him could take a picture with his twin daughters (it was their birthday) and Cindy was literly a foot away from him at the next table and he was very rude and said no because then we would have to do it for every table and we don't have time. I think there was a much more polite way he could have said the same thing.

We were there the week of Aug 17th - That was our first experience with 1900 Park Faire. To us - we are not big buffet eaters, but there were several things that we enjoyed....and as far the characters went - it was ABSOLUTELY our best experience with a character meal. Our just turned 3 yr old stood by her chair the entire dinner - not eating anything - waiting for the Cinderella to come see her. (And she waited a good 30 minutes-that child has never been so patient)

When Cinderella arrived to see her - Cinderella scooped her up in a huge hug, and sat on the floor with our Sarabeth on her lap, and they had a private chat for about 10 minutes right there on the floor. This Cinderella was beautiful and wonderful with our children and it absolutely was one of the highlights of our trip!

I was able to take great pics and I wish that my DH would let me post them on the internet for you to see. (I understand his concerns)

I hope you have a wonderful experience there.

Jennifer

oh - and our Prince and Cinderella circulated on different sides of the room - so there was no possibility of getting them together for pics-so I would not expect them to be able to do that.

This was one my Favorites!!! We had a great food experience here as well. The characters were AWESOME. We had some pieyayah (spl?) which was very good. I actually forget what else I had for food because the character interaction we had was AWESOME. My dd is a HUGE fan of Anastasia. She was playing at the table with the cinderella plastic figures, and Anastasia kept coming round and putting the prince with her and she was yelling across the room to cindy and the prince. Drizella actually sat on the floor with my dd for about 5 minutes just chatting with her. Wish I knew what they were talking about. I also got a pic of Drizella kicking Anastisia in the butt. I didn't get my camera in time and Drizella posed again for me. Both of mykids danced with Cindy and the prince. I had bought a dress for my dd with was cinderella on one side and cinderella's rags on the other. So we started the meal with the rag dress and since we had the last seating after we took her pics with one side of the dress we flipped it and she had more pics taken with the other side. And the characters were great about it.

Yeah, there could have been a nicer way for him to say that, no doubt. But it IS true that they (or any other characters in dining) cannot take pictures with other characters. Because it would indeed have everyone asking for the same special treatment. And if you can't give it to all, its not really fair to give it to one. :(

Cinderella is still there, though, right?? Even though they've added characters? :confused3 I'm trying to get an ADR at 1900 PF for 12/1 specifically so DD can have dinner with Cinderella her first night there.

We were there the week of August 10th and had a great experience! Of all the buffets we have been to at Disney, we thought this one was the best. There was a wide selection of food, everything was hot, fresh, and very good. I wonder if the quality has declined during the free dining period? We have 3 picky kids and they all enjoyed this meal.

Also, the character interaction was fantastic, so funny! Cinderella and the prince do a dance every so often, and the stepsisters choose dance partners from the crowd. My 11 year old son was chosen and she taught him how to waltz - it was priceless, and what a photo op!

The stepmother was the best, what a great character! The table behind us was getting up to take a picture with her and one adult passed a baby to the other adult to be in the picture and the baby started crying. Lady Tremaine said, "she's not crying because of me, she's crying because you threw her across the table - now throw her back, I want to watch". After taking a picture with my boys, she said to my husband "now you". He stood up (he is 6'6") to take a picture with her and she said "wait", walks away and comes back with a chair - she stands on it so she is towering over him and says to me "now you may take the picture".

Best character meal of the week!!

We ate there last Christmas and loved it. However we ate Breakfast. We plan on going back this Thanksgiving

Hi
We ate here on August 15th. The character interaction was really good, but the food was horrible. They should've never changed from the original buffet.
I don't eat any meat, so there wasn't really hardly anything to eat. Just some salads. Even the pasta had meat in it. Before they changed the buffet, they had delicious mushroom ravioli with alfredo sauce, vegetable eggrolls, and a lot of other non-meat foods. I don't know if we'd return here.

We ate here in October 2006 (before the changes) and loved it. It's one of our DD's requests to do again on our trip next April. I'll just have to hope that the food is at least edible - after all it's the characters that are the main attraction there. :)

So it seems like every other Disney Restaurant it is a favorite for some and others not so much. I have never personally gone here for dinner but it is going to be the first dinner of our honeymoon. The breakfast was always wonderful as a kid...my family's favorite. In my experience take opinions for what they are opinions.....if you want to try it do, if not don't. I will say this in my opinion the castle meals are terrible so if I want to see Cindy and the Prince which on my honeymoon I do then its 1900 Park Fair for something new, who knows we just may love it or hate it, but I am not one to let a bad meal ruin things. :upsidedow

It sounds like with a few small exceptions, the character interaction here is very good and the food not so great. I guess I don't expect much from buffet food and I would be going for my kids, but I'd like it to at least be fair to good, not awful. We only have one other character meal planned and so I'd love to get in a "princessy" themed one. DD8 is pretty much over princesses completely but DD5 is not. It seems like this meal would satisfy both - get in Cinderella but also have the fun of the stepsisters. But I hate to waste dining credits if the food is really bad. I guess it is just a gamble...

Thanks for all the advice! JJ

I went in May to the dinner with my dd and my friend. The character interaction is better than any other character meal IMO. I feel that the food was more for adventurous palettes which many people like and others that like "regular" food probably won't care so much for. They have the kids buffet with the regular stuff for them. I like the buffet and my friend LOVED it, but I'm guessing it's because it's NOT your typical buffet food. :thumbsup2

I have many character meal pictures with more than one character but it is timing...timing...timing. Never guaranteed and never requested.

We've never eaten at 1900 but hope to some day. Our last trip we were at the GF for another event and were using the restrooms in the hall next to a gift shop and some restaurant side doors were open. My kids were able to silently watch the characters circle the room from afar. I was most taken when watching the prince kneel to speak to the children, it looked as if he were proposing. Very Cute.
