Is it really that bad? We haven't been there in about 4 years. We have a reservation for it in Nov. and I cannot change it. We are a group of 30(this is my welcome party for my vow renewal which will be the day after at the GF) and this was the only restaurant able to book our group at the time we wanted(first dinner seating). I keep reading bad reviews and now I am getting really nervous!

Anyone like it or have a recent positive review of this place. I am interested in dinner only.

Thanks!!:goodvibes

We love it:)
We are leaving for DW today, and our first adr is here.
My kids love it!
I would keep my adr if I were you:woohoo:

I was there this past March, and a year ago in January 2008. I thought the food was good and diverse, the service was good. It's nice being in the Grand Floridian. I'm not an extremely picky person - and I think the kind of people who write reviews have strong opinions (and tend to have high standards).

The thing is, there are a lot of people with young children there to see the whole Cinderella crowd. Lots of little princesses - some well behaved, some not so well behaved. And all pretty loud. Lots of people milling around (as you get with a buffet, character meal & lots of children).

Then again, you're going to have a large group of people, and if you're fun people you'll probably be loud too. You certainly won't be disruptive there. I think a buffet works well for a large group (so much easier than trying to get everyone fed at the same time).

I certainly wouldn't recommend it for a small group of adults only who want quiet dinner conversation. But for a large group, I don't see it being a problem.

We had dinner there our first night of our Christmas vacation this past year. We personally loved it. My husband thought the food was fantastic (but then again, he eats Taco Bell on a daily basis :rotfl:) and I thought it was good too. The kids absolutely loved the dessert bar. And we loved that all the princesses and family came to our table. There was also a dance at some point. Our waiter was fantastic and anticipated our needs before we needed them. Our one and only complaint was that we had an ADR but we still waited over an hour with crabby hungry children to be seated. But after we got our table, it was all magic!:wizard:

We went there last fall and we have an ADR there in a few days.

We enjoyed it. The food is diverse. There were some things that I didn't like and others that I loved. There is a wide enough selection that if you aren't an especially picky eater, you are certain to find plenty that you will enjoy.

Also, the characters are a lot of fun. The step sisters are a hoot!

If you are willing to sample your way down the buffet (an let's face it, that's half the fun!) you'll find some delicious selections.

Have a great trip!

1900 PF is one place that we will never set foot in again...been to breakfast (terrible) and dinner this past January and the food was just horrid. While the character interaction is great the food is just inedible.

I want to agree with a couple of things other people have said - the stepsisters and stepmother ARE a hoot (very funny), the food & service ARE very good (as far as I, my friend, and my DGD were concerned)

AND

It was the longest wait I ever had for an ADR. January 2008, my DGD & I waited nearly an hour. This past March was better - about 20 minutes (still longer than any of our other waits). And we were ontime (or early) for our ADRs.

Then again, with such a large group, hopefully they'll be ready & set up for you.

But, apart from being hungry, there's shopping you can do, or just sit & sip wine & listen to the live music in the GF atrium. If you have to wait, it's much better than the front porch of Crystal Palace (for example).

We were there 3 weeks ago for dinner. We loved it.

The food wasn't amazing, but it was certainly edible. I LOVED the mashed potatoes there. The deserts were excellent.

The characters were FANTASTIC. We were laughing the entire time.

We would definitely go back there again

We liked the food very much. And the character interaction is the best. My husband even danced with Drizella. It was a hoot. I would do it again but it was all full.

We love it there too!!!!!!! We've eaten breakfast & dinner and enjoyed both.

It's one of my fav places to eat. Definitely going to try to get ADR again for Jan.

We have ADR's there for the first night of our trip (2 days away...woohoo!) so I will definitely post again and let you know! I've heard a lot of good things, though - we are looking forward to it!

I will say that out of the 6 nights we were there, this was our worst meal of the trip (im not picky by any means). There was nothing at all that stood out at me that would make me want to go back there again. It seems all i ate was roasted chicken and mashed potatoes (oh an soft serve vanilla ice cream). If you are on the dining plan and this is all you can get compared to getting some other character meal such as Chef Mickeys i say do it. If paying out of pocket i would not. The buffet was very bland. At least with Chef Mickeys it gave me the feeling of wanting to go back one day. I really loved CM's pasta & chicken w/cream sauce, pretzel bread, salmon, potatoes and a bunch of other things but 1900 Pare Fare left me with nothing good that came to my mind except the soft serve ice cream. I know some reviews were bad and i thought maybe they were just picky but i saw for myself.

My family loves it there. We've been for breakfast twice and dinner once. I have it at the top of my backup list for our upcoming trip (I figure we should try some new places this time, otherwise it would be on there).

You're going to the first dinner seating so the food will be nice and fresh and there should be no problems seating all of your group in tables all together. We had the first seating there and it as wonderful.

It's American fare. It's not gourmet food or anything like that. It's standard American fare so if you go in expecting that then you'll be happy. What they had was quite tasty.

Thank you all so much for all the info and honest opinions!

There will be 12 kids in our group of 30. Those kids are all under 11 years old. None of us are into gourmet food. We love Chef Mickey's and that was my first choice but they wanted to seat us at 9:30pm! No way, and Ohana's couldn't fit us at all. So, that left 1900 Park Fare cause I wanted a buffet with characters outside of the park. A lot of us will be staying at the GF so it's convenient. We are a loud bunch and I will apologize ahead of time to any of you who will be seated next to us!LOL:lmao: We will be there Nov. 8th. The way I look at it is if the kids are happy, the adults will be happy!;)

For those going there soon, please post a report when you get back!!:thumbsup2

Thanks!

We were just there, with a big group (13), and although the service was fine, characters were good, and the food was decent, the thing that bothered us is they seated us akwardly.
We had 13 at two tables pushed together, what looked to be a 6 top and a 4 top. We couldn't even get out of our chairs without climbing on them.

That alone soured our experience. I HOPE you don't have the same experience, and that you have a lovely dinner and vow renewal! :wizard:

Thank you for this info and the well wishes!:goodvibes

If the tables are on top of each other I have no problem telling them to separate them, there are a few people I wouldn't mind sitting further away from!;):lmao:

I know you'll have a blast! Can't wait! Post pics too please!

:rotfl:
I think that didn't help either. My SIL was in a foul mood and the circumstances "enhanced" that and dh was ready to say he didn't know his own sister. LOL
[Then my mom says "The evil step-mother wasn't very nice!" :lmao: Kind of the point, Mom.]
Good times...good times........

My family really enjoyed 1900 PF! The characters are great and the food was fine. It felt like they were trying to be a little bit more upscale than Chef Mickey's and my husband actually thought the food was much better than Chef Mickeys. It sounds like you are there for a special event, so I hope that you enjoy your time with family and friends!:)

My family loves 1900 PF and we plan on going again during our Thanksgiving trip this year. The food, for a buffet, we thought was pretty good.
