1900 Park Fare vs. Cape May Cafe for breakfast?

We're trying to decide between 1900 Park Fare and Cape May Cafe for a character breakfast. Any opinions? Chef Mickey's is booked, we're having dinner at the Crystal Palace another day, and we're not interested in Ohana or Tusker House.

I'm leaning towards 1900 Park Fare as it seems easier to get to a monorail resort for a late breakfast (we're staying at OKW). I think we'd need to take a cab to the Beach Club to avoid multiple buses or a trek through Epcot (can you even get through to the international gateway before 11:00 a.m.?)

But if the food/experience is better at Cape May, we'd spring for the cab.

We enjoy both of them, but I think Park Fare has a better variety of food. They have french toast, they have omelets made to order. Based on food, I'd say do Park Fare, plus it would be easier to get to, and there are more characters.

Cape May, we always take a cab, find it easiest (and a nice change of pace from the buses!)
Only reason I'd say pick Cape May over Park fare would be if you'd prefer the characters there. There are only 3 at Cape May (Donald, Minnie & Goofy), and Park Fare has Mary Poppins, Alice, Mad Hatter, Pooh & Tigger.
We enjoy them both, and Cape May is nice to visit Beach Club. But if choosing between more variety of food, more characters and no cab - then Park Fare I'd say!

Had breakfast at 1900 Park Fare in 2009, Cape May Cafe this most recent trip in 2010.

We took the bus to Epcot from AS Movies Resort and walked through Epcot, through the International Gateway, to Beach Club. It's open, and a nice, enjoyable walk.

Are you doing other character breakfasts? We enjoyed the setting and food at both equally. I'd decide based on the characters and where you want to go after breakfast.

I'd pick 1900 PF because the characters are harder to find in the parks -- Alice in Wonderland, Mad Hatter, Mary Poppins... other characters may appear too (Tigger and Pooh when we were there). Mad Hatter is funny. Mary Poppins is very real. Food was very good -- custom omelets, lobster eggs benedict, all the usual breakfast food was great, and there's the famous strawberry soup.

Cape May Cafe was good... all the usual breakfast food and a few specialty dishes - quiche, etc. Food was just as good. Characters were Minnie, Goofy, and Donald. You can find these characters in the park too.

Did you consider Garden Grill in Epcot? Just dinner there, but we enjoyed the experience...

We enjoy Cape May if we are staying at the resort but I wouldn't travel to eat there.

I also say that Cape May is not worth the hassle to get there unless staying in that area. We did 1900 PF for a late brunch (11:15 ADR) this past May and my girlfriend and I both enjoyed it. We were one of the last tables to leave and got to have some extra face time with Alice and the Hatter (they were great with the few kids that were there). The breakfast food is more or less the same at most of the character meals, with each restaurant having its own dish or 2. With that being said I would go with 1900 PF because of the character interaction and the ease of getting there.

We're looking at a late breakfast as well (10:45a.m.) Did you find that the buffet was still well stocked at 11:15? Were they rushing you out and clearing the buffet, or were you able to take your time?

We were able to take our time. They were still bringing out the food even as the tables were getting ready to leave. We didn't feel the least bit rushed. My girlfriend and I were one of the last 5 tables or so to leave. We had actually finished eating and paid a good 15 mins before we left. Alice and the Hatter stuck around and really seemed to go out of their way to make it a great experience for all those who were left. I'm not sure if they always do that or if they were in rare form.

Might I also suggest something my girlfriend and I did that morning? We got up extra early that morning and went and had a pastry and juice from the food court at POR to hold us over until our reservation. We made it to MK with time to get a good spot for the RD and were able to get a good portion of MK complete, along with some FP for after our meal. We started in Adventureland and worked our way around to Fantasyland. We never saw a crowd or waited on a line until we got to Fantasyland. We got a couple of FP's and left MK for our ADR. By the time we got back to MK our FP were in affect. It was nice to be able to get on a ride after our meal without having to wait on a line. Just a suggestion. Have fun!

I haven't eaten at Cape May before, but we have done 1900 Park Fare. If I had the choice to do it again I would. The food was GREAT in my opinion, but you do have to be really careful about when you leave the table because we had a struggle with that. The characters would come to our table whenever my aunt or uncle would leave to go get food. The character interaction was kind of mediocre, but I don't expect that much out of character breakfasts because I know they need to move onto other tables. However, I did think the interaction with Pooh and Tigger was better than with Alice, Mad Hatter, or Mary Poppins. The one thing I found annoying was before you go into the dining room to eat, they take your picture in front of a WALL that has a picture of the castle on it and then come to your table to beg you to buy it for $30. Other than that, we enjoyed it. I would recommend it.

We haven't eaten at Cape May Cafe, but we have eaten at 1900 Park Fare (Dec 2009) and it was fabulous. My daughters (11 and 13 y/o) LOVED Alice, Mary Poppins, the Mad Hatter, Pooh and Tigger. They came by our table several times during our breakfast and were very attentive to my girls as well as my husband and I. The food was awesome too

the 1900 park fare breakfast is one of my favorites. i just really enjoy the atmosphere and have never had a bad experience.

We are planning on trying 1900PF the next trip for breakfast...have done dinner twice and enjoyed it. We did Cape May breakfast last trip. It was by far the best breakfast food we have had (but we do few breakfasts) The service on the other hand, not so good. But the characters were great.

Cape May is my favorite character breakfast by far. The character interaction is great, the atmosphere isn't as chaotic as others and the food is very good. Now our home resort is the Beach Club so for us it couldn't be easier, but I can imagine it could be quite a trek for those not staying there and renting a car.

All that being said, I also love 1900 Park Fare. The food is the best on property for a character breakfast and though the atmosphere is chaotic (given the layout of the restaurant) the character interaction is pretty good, though it does feel rushed at times, since the dining rooms hold quite a large amount of people.

Park Fare has the best breakfast, I especially love their eggs benedict and for character experience I always loved Mary Poppins. Cape May is the same breakfast you would get in most the hotels.

Been to both, 1900 was nasty, the food was disgusting and the noise level was ridiculous...left with a pounding headache.

Been to Cape May 7-8 times and it is always excellent and not loud at all.

Hi we have eaten at both, and had great experiences at both, but depending on what you want to do afterwards would play a factor, but if I had to choose either or, I'd choose 1900 Park Fare! You won't be disappointed! Best of luck and have a Magical Day!

definitly Cape May, it is such a beautiful resort, and so much calmer than the GF.
The food was great and fresh, the character interaction is less rushed, and there is no pushing ,shoving and being overwhelmed by too many people like at park fare

Going on my 2nd trip on 1/23. I have ressie for both, 1900 Park Faire on 1/24 & Cape May Breakfast on 1/26. Can't wait!
