Please help me choose between 1900 Park Fare and Ohana for dinner. Also want to watch the Floating Electrical Pageant while we're at either Polynesian or Grand Floridian. Maybe catch Wishes, too, somewhere there. Input appreciated. Thanks.

We love both places. As a matter of fact we are taking a short 3 day trip in December to visit our DS who is working at WDW and we have scheduled both of these places for dinner. But if you want to watch the water parade and Wishes I would think 'Ohana would be better. You can actually see both from the restaurant but you get a better view from the beach.

Come to think of it you could always eat at 1900 Park Fair and walk over after to the beach at Poly.
Sorry I couldn't be more helpful :rotfl:

Our family prefers Ohana. We have eaten at 1900 once and the food was good but not anyhting memorable. Ohana seems to immerse us into the spirit of WDW more. You can catch Wishes while there if you time your meal right which is preety cool. They turn the lights down and pipe in the sound. The food is very good at Ohana, but go hungry or you wont enjoy it near as much.

I love 1900 park fare. it just depends on if you want a buffet or not. you wil have a lot more options at 1900 park fare where as Ohana's menu is fixed, but 'Ohana is more "fun" for kids, but 1900 park fare has character dinner. so it depnds on what you want more. good luck!

Well, I gave 'Ohana two trys and both were strike outs. The starters and dessert were great, as was the view of Wishes... however, the meats were nasty! Overcooked, dry, and pretty much inedible. The first trip the meats were quite as bad, but the service was awful. The 2nd trip the service was slightly better, but the meats were bad... Many others report having great experiences each trip, and although I enjoy being in that location, I don't enjoy the food.

As for 1900PF, we attempted to have dinner there one night. The service to get us in was horrible. At check-in there was 1 family ahead of us and no one waiting in the lobby. So you'd think we'd pretty much just walk right in (it was only the 2 of us). Well, I overheard the gentleman in front of me checking in and his ADR wasn't for another 40 minutes. Mine was 5 minutes away. So they take their time and he orders a cake for his daughters birthday... again, no biggie. Then I check in and she said it would be just a couple of minutes. Meanwhile, the other family is having pictures taken with the Fairy Godmother and then escorted to their table for dinner. Several more families arrive and check-in, then get seated... about 30 minutes pass and we haven't been seated. So I go out to the lobby and call Citricos and they tell me I can be seated in just a few minutes. I walk back to 1900PF and hand them the pager and tell them that I had waited long enough and that it was insane that all of these people were getting seated before us and had laters ADRs. The manager was there and said they had a table ready for us, and I told her that we would never be coming back there again.

Anyway, the food might be okay, but I didn't have the chance to experience it. However, I haven't had much luck with WDW buffets (Boma being the exception).

So, if I had to chose between the 2, I'd probably go hungry... :confused3 That or go to Kona Cafe, or GFC, or Concourse Steakhouse....

We would pick 'Ohana. We enjoy our time and food alot more at 'Ohana than we do when we have been in 1900 Park Fare. 1900 just seemed too crowded and people were running around not worrying about anyone else. It was much more relaxed at 'Ohanas when we go there.

We ate Ohanas last night. It was incredible. My dh has a intolerance to garlic and Chef Cousin Alfonso came to the table to discuss what he should not eat. The chef prepared his meat special and grilled his shrimp without any garlic. He made him a special dish of wings as well. Our two year old slept through dinner so our meal was a dream. (Usually with our 2 year old it's best for us to eat at a Buffet.) One word of advice, when it comes time for dessert, don't let your waiter pour the banana foster sauce on your dessert. We watched the ice cream of the table next to us disappear instantly. Instead, we poured ours on our own plates and our icecream lasted the entire time. On a note about over cooked, or under cooked meats. If the meat your waiter brings out, isn't to your liking, just tell them. They will bring you a different skewer.

I haven't eaten at 1900 Park Fare in a while. The last time I did, it was fantastic. The selection was nice, the food tasted good. The strawberry soup, if they still have it, made quite an impression.

I love to hear stories like this, it's what makes WDW special, when a CM goes out of their way and gives you some personal attention. I am sure it happens much more than we hear about. As a matter of fact, we had a similar experience with a chef at Boma.

I couldn't have said it better myself....
Also don't let them rush you. They will come to your table with skewers right after you get your appetizers. Just let them know you are not in a rush and that they should come back.
