Here's the situation....

It's our MVMCP day, so we will be sleeping in (as much as 5 kids will, lol) and hanging out at the resort....I want everyone to be well rested so we can stay for the entire party. I already have an ADR for 5 pm at Crystal Palace. We have a park ticket that day also, so we may even head over to MK around 2-3. (We've only allowed 1 full day at MK this trip besides the party and possibly a pmEMH).

So, I am thinking about adding a breakfast simply because we definitely want to visit the GF. I would also like to visit the AKL since we've never been there.

We'll be staying at POP, and I've heard that getting to AKL is a pain. I've heard the Mad Hatter at PF is hilarious and I'm sure my boys would enjoy it. Getting to GF for an 11 breakfast would put us at the MK too early, I'm afraid.....plus it's parade taping day. According to the reviews, Boma's food is better, but I really want to try the strawberry soup at PF. My parents will be with us for this meal (and they're foodies), so I want to take them into consideration as well.

We've obviously never been to either, so help me decide......I am confused!! :goodvibes TIA!!

The food at Boma is better and offers a wider choice of food than PF.

I would lean towards a breakfast at Boma. The characters at PF are good, but if you are finished at 12:00 it could be a long wait for MK. There isn't a lot to do at GF for kids if you are not staying there. AKL on the other hand I believe has a fair number of activities for kids plus you can see animals.

1900 is okay. Since you have children it may be better for their entertainment since they have the characters there. The Mad Hatter is always entertaining. But the selection of food is limited.

Boma does have more of a selection food wise and is a wonderful resort to visit. You and your children can step outside and look at the animals after breakfast and I believe there are some activities for children there though at what times I am unsure.

And though and yes from POP to BOMA it is a little harder to get too unless you grab a taxi or have your own car, because you would need to get a bus to AK or DTD and then grab another bus to AKL which can be a lot of waiting vs hopping a MK bus and take to the GF then boat (which I suggest it's less waiting and you don't do the whole monorail loop, it goes to GF then POLY) or monorail over to GF.

Ultimately I would say think about how early you would need to get up to make it to breakfast at either resort and what kind of experience you are looking more for. Character dinning (and please keep in mind characters are always subject to change). Or something a little more on the "wild side" with food items you have never tried before. (IE: Pap-white corn meal, quinoa porridge, Bobotie - corn beef, eggs, cream, potato and onion) and then spending some time looking out at the savannas.

Hope this helps.

We ate at Boma's for breakfast (and dinner) last month and LOVED it. The selection of food was amazing and delicious. Also, there are tons of things to do at AKL. You could spend several hours there. When you get there, ask for the list of activities. We didn't do any of the activities this time because we spent the mornings in the parks and the afternoons in the room with a napping toddler. But the activities might work in your families schedule.

Have fun!

You're correct in saying that reaching the Animal Kingdom Lodge without a car is difficult, but it's worth the trek. It is an absolutely stunning resort, and I make a reservation at one of the two restaurants almost each trip partially for an excuse to visit.

If you need more convincing, I think Boma serves the best breakfast on property. It is consistently the only buffet restaurant at which I will regularly eat. Boma offers a wide selection of food, including a nice mixture of traditional exotic fare.

If you choose to try Boma, (and I agree, the AKL is totally worth the trip) I suggest this route: Bus from POP to Blizzard Beach, AK or DHS---whichever comes first, then on to AKL. Do NOT go to DTD as previous poster suggested--you'll be going way out of your way :goodvibes

I've never been to either 1900 or Boma for breakfast (but yes for dinner-YUM!), but will be going in Nov. to Boma's breakfast and can't wait!!!

definitely do 1900 park fare! we stayed at GF for 8 days and LOVED it. the characters are fantastic and they spent a lot of time with everyone. mad hatter was fab, mary poppins and alice were sweet. i actually really liked the food and thought there was a great selection, especially for a picky eater like me! it's worth going just to see the GF
