There is a lot of confusion on the board about the refurb menu and how it is working and I would like to clear up as muck of that as I can.

First of all is is preplated, per person, but you can get seconds if you would like to. I have yet to see anyone finish their entire meal, so the concern over having enough food should be put aside.

Secondly, the menu that was posted is incorrect. The appetizers also have a soup of the day and the childrens menu has alot more than just the two items you are being told about.

Childrens menu:
Appetizers: Carrots and celery with ranch, mixed green salad, chicken noodle soup, fruit cup.

Child meals: Prime rib, salmon, chicken or cheese pizza, beef and macaroni, and grilled chicken with rice.

There has never been a meatball penne or chicken strips on the menu.

For those of you considering cancelling, I would reconsider. The size of GFC is much smaller than Park Fare and becuase of that the characters get to your table more often and they spend more time with the children.

If you have anyother questions, please feel free to post, I will try to answer as many as I can!

Thank you and I am definatly going to keep it. it is our first night there, we are staying in the villas at wilderness lodge and thought it would be a nice way to start our disney vacation. have never been in the grand floridian to eat so it will be a nice treat and to see my daughters face with cinderella, who cares whats on the menu. have a great day, have you been there to eat with the rehab?

Thanks for posting the menu.:thumbsup2 From your location, I assume that you have some "insider knowledge". Is it possible for you to post a link to this new thread on the other thread? I don't know how yet. I read your reference to this thread and I'm sure some other people on the other thread would be very interested in your information. :)

Will all this contruction or whatever they are doing be done by Xmas time??

We are celebrating our dd5th birthday there 12/19, this is her first time to WDW and she is so anxious to see cinderella.

I really hope you're right, so please don't take me the wrong way on this ...but do you work at the cafe itself????

the only reason i ask is because I took your advice, i tried to call to the cafe itself, no one was in the cafe (did leave a few voicemails) and when i spoke different ladies at the Grand Floridian front desk, they all said at first that is was family style - which made me happy - then i asked for the menu and they said ok and then said "wait it says preplated on this menu" - which made me sad

so then they went to check and they said after they spoke to someone that by "family style" they meant they brought it out all at once and that it was pre-plated and then they said they asked about "seconds" or "refills" and they were told that was not part of the plan.

They suggested I call back at 5pm when the podium opened up (which of course I will) but if you work there - that would be so awesome!!

And unfortunately when you have a 6-9 husband - he very often cleans plates and then some - and usually only wants the meat - doesn't want any veggies....and he doesn't want to go there unless he can get "refills/seconds" on the part he wants.

this is oh so frustrating!!!

I am crossing my fingers you are right and work at GF Cafe!

Yes, he/she does.
He started another thread about this topic & stated that he is a server there.

Thank you! The kids menu you posted looks much more appetizing than the one we were giving by Disney Dining. My DD would have been fine either way, but I'm certain she'll go for the prime rib now that it's an option. I would have had to give her some of mine with the other menu, LOL.

This is what I was thinking all along. I am one of the very few who was rather happy that we're getting GFC instead of 1900 PF. :rotfl:

Where do you call for the special slipper dessert during the rehab? I would love to order one for my DD. TIA!

Same for me too...I'm really excited that we'll get more character time...even more excited that I won't be getting a migraine from that loud organ that was playing the last time I ate at 1900 Park Fare.:cheer2:

I was just at resturant last weekend took my daughter for her 6th birthday. along with my other daughter and their friend. I have to say i was very unhappy with the food and the portion size. you pay the price of the buffet for one plate of food and no one ever asked us if we wanted seconds.. But on the bright side the characters where the best and the fact that Cinderella, Prince Charming and the God Mother can talk to the kids made it all the better. the highlight of the evening was when Prince Charming asked my Birthday girl for a dance and then danced her around the area we where in. That in itself was worth the whole meal. She is still talking about it a week later and we did 2 other character meals that weekend. So who care what you eat when you have that smile and memory...

I must say that the negative food reviews are really disappointing to me. I was being so optimistic all along. The character interaction reviews seem to be good though. That's really what we were going for anyway. I was planning this for DD's birthday dinner, on night 9 of a 10 night trip. With the DDP I'm thinking/hoping we won't really care about getting a lot of good food by the end of the trip anyway. The last time we did DDP by night 6 we just weren't all that hungry any more, between the loads of food and the heat. I think I'm keeping the ADR regardless. If reviews of the characters were coming in negative I might cancel, but they're not. Besides, the GF makes such nice cakes and I wanted to order one for DD's birthday.

I think we still are going to try it on August 15th. Nobody else has any ADR's for a good time on that night. Everything is after 9:30pm.:scared1:
