1900 Park Fare for 5 and 2 year old boys?

Hi, we will be at WDW in September for our first trip. I have an almost 5 year old and a 2 year old, both boys. I'm plannng on CP, Tusker House, Chef Mickeys, and Garden Grill for character meals, but trying to have a couple back-ups just in case. I'm intrigued by the idea of 1900 for either the latest breakfast possible, or an early dinner. I know who the characters are at each meal. I am wondering, esp. for dinner, will my boys hate it? DS5 told me he does not want to see princesses, but I think he'd think Prince Charming is cool, esp. if he talks swords with him or something.

Any experience with young boys there? Thanks!

Last June when we stayed at the the GF, I did not book any meals at 1900 Park Fare. My boys (same ages as yours) saw Cinderella from the door in the lobby and asked why we're not dining in there! They were completely in awe of her.

I've heard the dinner is hysterical mainly due to the step sisters.

This June I have both breakfast and dinner reserved. My little one is now facinated with the Cinderella III movie he watched one afternoon on Toon Disney. It features mainly the Prince, Step Sisters and mice. I like that they're familiar with the characters now.

Breakfast there are no princess. You'll find Mary Poppins, Bert, Alice, Mad Hatter, Pooh and Tigger.

Your other restaurants are perfect, all on our must do list. The boys enjoyed Garden Grille so much last Nov, we had to dine there TWICE in one week. Huge hit.

My DS5 also LOVES the Sci-Fi Dine In. DS2 slept thru our lunch there. He usually sleeps thru a lot of lunches

Don't think they won't be interested in CRT either. I avoided it a few trips, then booked breakfast last Nov. They loved it. They didn't know who any of the princesses were, and really didn't care. A character is a character to them. For some strange reason, DS5 was obsessed with knowing if there was an elevator in the castle and if he could ride it. He got to ride in it after our meal. It was a highlight of the trip for him.

We love going there!! My DH even asked if we were going back this year. I have a little boy who is 8 and he loves it too, maybe even more than my girls. He got his first kiss from Cinderella there two years ago, and still remembers it. I say take them!

Thanks for the replies! I like the idea of the dinner better, I think. My boys have never seen Alice or Mary Poppins, and while we could certainly watch them before we go, it's not my first choice for a meal. I keep hearing that the dinner is really funny too; that's kind of what made me start to consider it. Is the stepmother mean? I don't think either of my kids are old enough to find it funny if she's mean to them, they'd just be sad, you know? We'll definitely check out Cinderella III-that sounds fun!

I may seriously consider dinner then. All of the other meals are costumed characters (and a lot of Mickey and Goofy), it'd be nice to have face characters to talk to them and change it up a bit. I just got really worried when DS5 told me princesses are "disgusting" and he refused to even meet them! I'm worried I won't be able to get Chef Mickey's-maybe this will make a good 2nd choice!
