1900 Park Fare Dinner

I wish that I had said more when we were there but honestly I was the only one who really saw the difference. We were so involved with the kids and taking pictures that I just "Let it Go". My kids only knew what I had told them to expect. It did kind of annoy me to pay the $200 (it's was Nana's treat) for something less than I knew was suppose to happen. Disney does a good job of "covering" themselves with the disclaimers and "it is only a request" though. Not sure that's a good thing.

It's highly unusual to go from 5 to 2 characters, we only go to the buffets for the characters and two is not worth the cost imo.

My whole point was that nowhere in Disney’s description does it say “Five characters”.

Which is why 4 would probably work, maybe even 3. My guess is everyone has a different breaking point at which they think it's unreasonable. And at 2 I'm betting most would think that was unreasonable.

I find that irrelevant, if they usually have 5 characters and that's the norm, 2 is not acceptable.

If it is not advertised with a number, the majority of people who don’t haunt boards such as this or have gone before would have no idea how many are “supposed” to be there.

I really didn't mean to cause "drama" on here by my review. I am one of those who knew AHEAD of time who was "suppose" to be there and I just wanted other's like myself to know that it is not always the case. New people reading reviews and seeing pictures on, not sure if I can say this: TripAdvisor (which is on the Disney site), would probably expect the whole group, especially since there is so much "positive review" about the sister's interaction. It does, however, say on the 1900 PF site that you will be dining with Cinderella AND the Prince. This was just "another lesson learned" by me this trip.

Today almost everybody haunts the boards so most would know or someone would tell them.

I'd guess the number of people booking that have no idea what to expect is pretty low these days.

In October, we ate at Akershus and only Cinderella and Ariel were circulating, with Belle doing the usual photo at the front. I did ask about Snow/Jasmine/Aurora as we usually see them there and was told with a smile that Belle invites many of her friends, but that sometimes only one or two can attend. This surprised me, as we’ve never seen only two princess doing rounds, but it’s obviously not that uncommon, as the server seemed like she had given this explanation many times before.

I would have been disappointed, too, but, yes, Disney does a good job with their disclaimers to CYA. I'm actually surprised they list Cinderella and Prince Charming as "hosting" the dinner as it does imply they both will be there (Though I'm sure they could come up with one of their "magical" excuses, like he IS hosting, he's just busy shining the glass slipper right now, yadda yadda). We went to O'hana last week and I fully expected the coconut races, limbo, etc. We were there from 6:40 - 8:00 pm and they did a short hula instruction and birthday recognitions and that was it for over an hour and a half. It was not the bright, lively, fun O'hana of past visits. The service was really wonky, too (waited forever for food and then the server hastily dumped about 3 lbs. of meat on my plate without asking what or how much I wanted) I, too, was disappointed, but DH and DS10 couldn't have cared less and enjoyed the food, so it was fine. I won't be rushing back there any time soon, however.

We also ate at Ohana this trip, probably my 8th visit there, and we were also disappointed in the quality this time. Our meat was cooked black and they dumped too much at once like they did with you. The dessert was still OUTSTANDING though, although that dessert at LTT (our 1st visit there) gives them a "run for their money".

We replaced the Ohana (Mickey) breakfast with GG this trip and we really were NOT impressed with GG. We all agreed for the same $$, Ohana breakfast was better.

I guess I'm sounding like I didn't enjoy any of meals this trip but I DID. I just hate to pay so much $$ and them not be good and the quality I have experienced before.

Yes, I totally agree. I think, especially when you go often, you notice the ebbs and flows of these restaurants. There are some that seem consistently on the mark (for us, that's Spice Road Table), some that go up and down (O'hana and Cali Grill this trip - Cali Grill food was not great this time, but the view is breathtaking!) and some that far exceed expectations (have always loved Artist Point, but this trip they knocked it out of the ballpark - it was SO good!).

Yes, I totally agree. I think, especially when you go often, you notice the ebbs and flows of these restaurants. There are some that seem consistently on the mark (for us, that's Spice Road Table), some that go up and down (O'hana and Cali Grill this trip - Cali Grill food was not great this time, but the view is breathtaking!) and some that far exceed expectations (have always loved Artist Point, but this trip they knocked it out of the ballpark - it was SO good!).

When just DH and I go we like to eat at places like Cali Grill and LeCellier. We haven't tried Artist Point but I hope to next visit when it is just us. I enjoy doing the character ones now that we have young grandchildren and when we go with them. I have always just looked at Ohana as being a different atmosphere/experience than what we can get here and have always looked forward each time to our dinners there. There is a Brazilian restaurant in Bhm. that everyone says is like Ohana but I refuse to go because I want Ohana to stay special to me. I hope this trip was just a "fluke" for us and you.
