1900 park fare dinner???????? please help

To further muddy the waters, we had dinner there last spring, and it was the best of any of the character buffets we'd tried.

Some folks are buffet adverse, and that's OK. Unless a buffet is constantly restocked, it's not going to be as good as a fresh, individually prepared meal. So, going with "apples to apples," I'd say that 1900's character buffet is on par with the rest of WDW buffets, with the exception of Boma, which is a different bird altogether. I'd say 1900 PF dinner is better than Chef Mickey's, about the same as the Crystal Palace, and way beyond Hollywood and Vine. Boma and Cape May Cafe are our favorite buffets, but they're non-character.

If there's one thing that is blatantly obvious here in DISworld, it's that tastes do indeed vary, and that any review is going to reflect the personal likes and dislikes of the reviewer. Even for restaurants that are routinely trashed - Maya Grill comes to mind, as does Big River at Boardwalk - once in a while you'll run across a glowing review. That doesn't mean that one party has a more "sophisticated palate" - it just means that what's good to you may not be good to me.

Of course, a filthy restaurant is not subjective, and I'd pay attention if some dining spot kept being called out for that.

Bottom line - you can't form an opinion unless you've tried it for yourself, and you can miss a real treat sometimes because an awful review spooked ya.

I just hate sinking a chunk of Disney change into a meal that might turn out to be awful, y'know? I guess that just has to be an assumed risk.

Thank you for further muddying the waters!!!:goodvibes I think we shall try it and form our own opinion!! Like you said I would hate to miss out on something we may end up loving!!!!:yay:

We had dinner there in Sept. and were not impressed. But I wouldn't say don't go based on our experience (or anyone else's). I think you should try it, who knows, you might really enjoy it and then you would have missed out! I agree, tastes are subjective, no one meal is going to please everyone. I didn't think the character interaction was as good as other places we've been, but this was my dd's first ever charcter meal and she was very shy. The stepsisters may have been a bit much for her, but they were very entertaining! We also didn't care for the food, it wasn't the quality of the food, but more the fact that there weren't many choices that appealed to us. Except the strawberry soup-that was incredible, IMO worth going just to try it.

I would like to try breakfast here and see if we like that better.

we actually have always had a good experience at Cinderella's dinner. I must admit though, that my kids like the stepsisters more than my husband and I do! They are entertaining, are funny when they do their little dance, but can be kind of loud. I almost preferred it when they had the mice there instead, it seemed more elegant, which was more fitting with the Cinderella theme. But again, my kids absolutely love it. We enjoy the food alot, but we aren't into 'fancy' or creative dishes, so prime rib, roast pork, pasta, and sides are great as far as we're concerned. The desserts are wonderful. We honeymooned at the Grand Floridian way back when, :) , so we enjoy walking around the hotel and grounds after dinner. It's a very beautiful resort, so it's really nice, especially at night. Hope you decide to try it, and you enjoy it like we do!

we had our first 1900 PF dinner there last january and loved it. we tend to be food snobs and hate most of the buffets but this one had a lot of different options to choose from. the characters were great, the service was great (and very accommodating to my special dietary needs) and we have actually already written it into our plans for our next trip. i would definitely recommend this dinner! :thumbsup2
