1900 Park Faire Question...

Hello everybody I am new so I'll just get right to the point.

(Note: Just for reference, my favorite Disney character is Mary Poppins.)

Anyway, I went to the 1900 Park Faire breakfast, and I noticed that Miss Poppins STAYED in the foyer the whole time, while all the other characters milled around the dining room. (Tigger was BOUNCY!!!)

So my question is - does she normally stay there? In other pictures I've seen she's in the dining room with the guests. Just wondering...

Normally she stays in the lobby while the other characters roam the room.

Yes, she always stays at the entrance to the dining room. We were told years ago that Mary Poppins initially "milled around the dining room" but this didn't last long. Take a good look at her costume and it makes a lot of sense. All those little hands full of syrup, butter, gravy or whatever they're eating...

Yeah, well, they usually just have one person on the lobby to greet everyone and if t is exceptionally busy that night and not all the characters make it around to the table, you will always get to see at least one in the lobby.


And yeah, I guess costumes can become an issue.

There are several character meals now where one character stays in one place, while the others wander. Donald has always done this during our Chef Mickey's meals, I think Piglet at Crystal Palace, now Cindy at CRT. I think one of the princesses now does this at PSB, too. I think I've read that the Fairy Godmother does this during the evening meal at 1900 Park Faire. I'm not sure why they do this, but it must work for Disney.

P.S. Mary Poppins circulated the room during our breakfast at PSB in 2004. She didn't have any problems with her dress then.

We don't do to many character meals anymore. We did Park Fare b'fast 7-8 times from '90 - '98, Mary Poppins always stayed in the foyer. My wife asked the CM's and was told it was because of problems with her costume.

Mary Poppins was in the foyer during our trip in August 2004. DD missed her (she was using the bathroom), and we had asked our server if she was coming back (she was gone when dd came back). We were told that she had left for the day (we had a late PS).

Well, a little later, the waitress spilled water all over my dad. She was upset, immediately got the manager, who comped my dad's meal (as we were telling them it wasn't any big deal, it was water and it would dry and so on)

But then, a few minutes later, out came Mary Poppins and Bert to our table!

i've seen Mary Poppins in the lobby when we ate at 1900 park faire. if you want to eat with Mary Poppins, you can go to the Princess Storybook Breakfast in Norway in Epcot or go for CRT for breakfast. she's there, too.

And my sad spin on this issue is that Mary Poppins was not there at all when we had breakfast at 1900 last month! Wendy from Peter Pan was, which was nice, especially for my Peter Pan loving daughter but I was really disappointed that Mary wasn't there! My 80 year old dad loves Mary Poppins and that is why we went there so he could get his picture taken with her! The food was wonderful as usual but I am still bummed!

P.S. Towards the end of our meal Minnie replaced Wendy which really surprised me since I thought all the characters at 1900 were British themed.
