Which would you recommend for a birthday dinner celebration for a ten year old boy? Thanks!

We liked the food better at 1900 Park Fare, but enjoyed the characters more at Chef Mickey's. They were really a hoot! I think due to the characters and their antics, I'd choose Chef Mickey's for your son's birthday. Our kids had a great time there.

I think it depends on who your DS would rather see, Mickey & Goofy or Pooh? Probably Mickey, ;)
Have a great vacation!

On our trip this past July, we ate both 1900 Parkfair and Chef Mickeys. We have always celebrated our DD birthday at Cheif Mickeys and did so again this year. However the characters this time just really didn't pay much attention to her as they did other birthday kids around her. Disappointing to her and us. The food at Cheif Mickeys this time also was not really good either. The food though at 1900 Parkfair, was good, and the characters kept coming around and playing with everybody at the table all through the meal and even as we left.

1900 definitely has better food and has always had great character intervention as well.
The last 3 times at chef mickeys it has been pretty bad food wise and the characters were ok.

My experience this past year was just the opposite...the characters at Chef Mickeys were great with us, but at Park Fare we had to ask the waitress to get one of them to come over and see us because we were done eating and hadn't had one character drop by our table. Alice and the Mad Hatter came over together for a very brief time and that was it. Felt bad for my DGrD. I guess the both have their "off" nights.

I've done both and, IMHO, 1900 is a "classier" place with better food. Chef Mickey's can be very hectic, and I could certainly see how a child could get overlooked. I'm sure the characters do not mean it, as I'm sure they get overwhelmed at times.

1900 seemed to be more organized. When DH and I went, we had a few characters actually sit down with us and goof around. And we don't even have any kids!

If I was planning a birthday party, I would go with 1900.

I'd just ask my DS which is what I've done with mine. We're celebrating an 11th birthday, and he chose Tony's because Pooh characters are his favorite. Our 8 yr. old ds chose Garden Grill, and 4 yr. old dd chose princesses. We're also going to Chef Mickey's. 1900 Park Fare is praised by the UG as the best quality of buffet food.
