Day 5
Monday 7/29
The kids have been excited about this day for weeks, especially Kayla. Today is the day for the Pirate Cruise! We arrived at the Grand Floridian a little after 9:00am and looked around in the shops and the kids watched a little bit of Robin Hood from the kids movie area. At 9:45am we check in at the marina and the kids get their name tags, life jackets and Bandanas and Mommy and Daddy get our receipt to pick them up at noon. Michaels excitement starts to ware off and he is now getting a little nervous. He holds Kaylas hand tightly as they walk down the ramp to board the boat. All was fine until he spots his Daddy waiving to him as the boat gets ready to leave. Then the tears begin to flow. Kayla tries to assure him that they are going to have a great time and a cast member does as well. When the captain sees there is no progress in elevating the tears he asks Michael if he wants to be his co-captain and help drive the boat. Well it is amazing how fast those tears dried up. The Pirates were now on their way to their great adventure.
Mommy and Daddy have 2 hours to spend with out the kids. Should we rent water mice???? Should we have a nice quiet breakfast alone??? Or should we give the kids an extra surprise??? Well, the kids won this. Kayla had been dying to ride splash mountain and Michael had been dying to ride Buzz Light Years Space Ranger Spin and we knew we were leaving tomorrow to visit Big Poppy (Great Grandpa). and would not be back at the Magic Kingdom for several days. We knew by the time the Pirate Cruise was over that the Magic Kingdom Crowds would be peaking so Mommy and Daddy hopped on the monorail on a mission to obtain fast passes for the kids. We needed a return time of between 12:30 and 1:30. We entered tomorrow Land and the return time for Buzz was 12:15. We passed the time riding the People Mover, as we still call the Tomorrow Land Transit Authority. The return time was then perfect! With the Buzz fast pass obtained we headed over to Splash for the other. Then it was a mad dash back to Main Street to buy two buckets of popcorn for our little pirates and then race off to the monorail to return to the Grand Floridian in time to meet them. Its amazing that it took us almost exactly the 2 hours to accomplish this. Mommy and Daddy rested by the marina awaiting their return. The boat arrives back safety with lots of happy pirates. We turn in our receipt and Kayla and Michael are called to exit the boat and meet us. They bounce happily up the ramp carrying their bag of treasures. They had a wonderful time and spent several days after the cruise talking about their adventure and playing with their treasures.
We tell them about their other little surprise and we are off to the Magic Kingdom with 2 very happy children. Daddy and Michael go on their little outing to ride Buzz and Mommy and Kayla head to Splash Mountain. We later meet back at Main Street and share a hot dog and fries at Caseys and watch the Share a Dream Come True parade.
Our next treat for the kids today was dinner with Pooh and Friends at 1900 Park Fair. We take the monorail to the Grand Floridian and have a little time before our 5:15 priority seating for the kids to watch more of Robin Hood. Dinner here was just average. The food was the least favorite of our trip and the service was not very good. I expected that though, as this was not our first time dining here. We never seem to get very good service here even when they are not busy. However, the character's more then made up for that. Piglet sat at a table in the lobby coloring with the children and during dinner Tigger, Pooh & Eyore made many, many trips to our table. They played with Kayla and Michael, looked at their pictures in the kids autograph books and even sat at the table for awhile with us.
After dinner we were all tired and decided to go back to the All Stars for a swim and a little TV time. Another fun filled day had come to an end and tomorrow we check out and leave for Big Poppy's ..or do we??????
Tomorrow: Do we really want to leave yet?????
