18th BD party

Thought I'd try this board in addition to the Community Board. My DD will turn 18 and we would like to have a party but do not have a large house. Have any of you been to a Murder Mystery party.... thought this limit the # of people and might be fun since it's around Halloween. Any other ideas would be appreciated!

My friends from camp and I had a little reunion a few years back at someone's house, and it was a murder mystery party. When they gave the invitations out, they gave us the name and description of our character so we could dress and act accordingly. We did end up having to double up on characters, but we just took turns reading the lines from the scripts (we used a kit to act out our mystery party). If your daughter has a close friend she could ask her to help out as a second hostess and then have 2 mystery games going on at the same time, so doubling up on characters wouldn't be such a problem. But I definitely recommend the murder mystery party, I had a blast!

My DD11 went to her friend's murder mystery b-day party last month & had a great time. This friend's mom had made up fantastic invitations...must have taken her a loooong time to make them. The invitations did give them all of the info. on their character...even suggestions for how her charcter should dress. There was also a website listed where DD could go & find out more (I'm assuming it was about her character. I'm not sure.. & DD is at a sleepover right now). I do remember that my daughter's character was a preppy high-school girl.
