Is $189 a night good? Is there anything wrong with SS? Why is there always availability there?

Thanks!

Well, there are only 3 walls on each room since they haven't finished construction yet. You will either share a room with the family next door since the wall is not there or your room will be wide open to the outside. If the later is the case, than they will give you a free mosquito net for night time.

Just kidding :). 189 sounds really good and SS is a very nice resort

A studio at SSR has one queen sized bed and one double sleeper sofa. The sleeper sofa is a memory foam type bed. You'll get a microwave and undercounter refrigerator. There are several pools at SSR, about one for each of the five sections. Some villas have a view of DTD. Many have a view of the golf course.

Hi! We stayed for 10 days in a studio in SSR (The Springs). We LOVED it. :rotfl: The building are far apart, the style and grounds are gorgeous, we did not hear people in other rooms, there is a little kitchenette, and the balcony is nice. Transportation to the parks was efficient and there is even a ferry to Downtown Disney. The main pool is nice and even has a water slide (for kids or big kids)! :) We would LOVE :flower3: to stay there again but it is expensive to do so (our next stay is at Pop), your getting a great deal!

SSR is a gorgeous resort. We stayed there last month. It is very large compared to other DCL resorts (WLV, BCV, BWV) so there are more rooms to fill. All of the rooms tend to overlook water features or golf courses. SSR has its own buses so you dont have to share with another resort. I think $189/nt is a good price for a Studio. It is comparable to a Deluxe resort plus it has a microwave and fridge.

My only suggestion would be to request a room near the main building. We were not smart enough to and we were quite a long distance from the main building (probably a 12 minute or so walk) making the use of the facilities somewhat inconvenient. When people say that this place is big...they aint lying.

Let me say that I have NOT stayed at SSR, but I really don't see how a studio there would be that much better than a room at POFQ. Just my opinion.

SSR pros:
Beautifully landscaped grounds
Nice room
Walking distance (perhaps a VERY long walk) to Downtown Disney
Somewhat nice restaurant (nicer than Dixie Landings)
Nice main pool, but very distant from rooms

SSR cons:
Spread out beyond belief, requires internal bus to get around resort!
Room will have a sleeper sofa (fine for just two people)

POFQ pros:
Beautifully designed
More utilitarian room with two queen beds
Compact design makes it easy and pleasant to get around
Boat to Downtown Disney (not quick, though)
Great pool (not as nice as SSR for older kids, though)
Restaurant available at Dixie Landings

POFQ cons:
Wretched and overpriced food court

Spread out beyond belief, requires internal bus to get around resort

I have to ask, you have not stayed there so what is this based on? Many resorts including all the moderates except POFQ offer internal busses.:confused3 Also POFQ has 2 full beds not queens.

We have stayed in every section of SSR and never found it necessary to take the internal bus.

To the OP. We love SSR, you will get a plush Queen size bed, designer furnishings, a very good counter service and full service restaurant, 4 pools, beautiful landscaping, walking distance to Downtown Disney, golf course at your door and the spa too.

As to why there is availability, many do not know that you can book DVC resorts without being a DVC member. It is new, so not as well known, and until it sells out to DVC, there is more CRO inventory available.

We just stayed four nights a SSR. It IS BEAUTIFUL! We stayed in the Grandstand section. Even though it is a lengthy drive to/from the front desk building, it is just a very short walk. It is so peaceful and quiet there. The CM's there were all very wonderful.

The Grandstand is the newest section...it just opened about a month ago.

I think the reason there is always something available is because it is HUGE! I know OKW is HUGE, too, but if I remember correctly, there are only 3 floors in those buildings...SSR has four floors, so that's one extra floor of rooms.

Your price of $189 per night sounds pretty reasonable for that room! All buildings have elevators, there's a microwave, a decent size mini fridge, a coffee machine and a toaster. AND everything is new.

Many resorts including all the moderates except POFQ offer internal busses.

That's why I didn't recommend any of them.

I should have added that at the same price point SSR is a better deal than POFQ. But if SSR is available at $189 then chances are that POFQ is available at $129 or so, and that being the case the latter is a better deal, IMO.

We stayed at SSR last month for the first time and we loved it. Everything about it. We were in the Grandstand section, which I requested since I heard it was the first bus stop..it was. The resort is beautiful. Our one bedroom villa was immaculate. The bus service was perfect. We have stayed on site in Values and Mod's before we joined DVC and the bus service to and from SSR was so much better then we have ever experienced at any of the other resorts. The walk to the main pool and that area was a piece of cake, even with three kids.
We were there for ten days and were really pleased. We will be staying there again no doubt.
As for the size, Yes it is a very large resort. But, we walked from our room, over to Congress Park and continued walking to DTD. Wouldn't want to do it everyday but, we did it with three kids under 10 and no one complained.;)

Thanks for the input - we are staying at SS in mid-Nov for the first time - we're usually at BCV. We're excited, but we know the BCV area so well, it's something totally new.
