180 Days.....from check-in or specific days?

This may sound like a crazy question, but I'm not sure if I was given false info Are you able to start making ADR's 180 days out from your check in day or from the specific day you are wanting a ressie?

We check in on May 5th. My DS's birthday is May 8th. Can I make the ressie on November 5th?

Thanks in advance! We are wanting a specific time for his birthday dinner

If you are staying at a Disney owned resort, you can make reservations for the first 10 days of your stay at the "180 days from checkin" mark. If you are staying offsite, you would have to make the reservation 180 days from the date the reservation would be for.

ETA: It is not 6 months. It is 180 days. So check to make sure you have your 180 day date correct.

Just googled "disney 180 day calculator" and it looks like your ADR date for a checkin of 5/5/13 would be 11/6/12.
