Been a member for a long time... never used the 180+10 for dining reservations. But now we have a grandaughter who will be going on her first disney trip. She will be 22 months old and we would like to
get a character breakfast reservation at Hollywood and Vine or Crystal Palace. Is the 180 +10 actually
190 days before and can you get any day in the entire reservation period. Exactly how does this all work? Thanks

no what it means is that you can make reservations at 180 days out from your check in date for 10 days starting on your check in date like that you only get to stress about it one morning instead of having to reserve 1 days at a time

Anyone can book a dining reservation 180 days from the date of the reservation. However, guests staying in a Disney resort can book their dining reservations 180 days from the date they will check into their room. If the resort stay is 10 days or less, they can book their dining reservations for the entire stay. If their resort reservation is longer than 10 days, they can book their dining reservations for the first 10 days of their stay.

Also, the online dining reservation system doesn't always recognize DVC reservations. Make sure your DVC reservation is showing in My Disney Experience. If the system tells you nothing is available for any restaurant you check on your +10 days, call Member Services or the 407-WDW-DINE number and make your reservations over the phone.

And if you have a split stay (DVC or not) you can only reserve up to the end date of your first reservation, and then you have to call (or reserve online) again 180 days out from check-in day of your 2nd reservtion for the rest of the days.

Has this changed recently? I was able to call and book for the duration of both stays at 180 days from the first reservation. That was back in July last year.

Apparently it has...I had no problem doing it last March but from what I have read something changed on the computer systems and they are no longer able to override. Really frustrating to be penalized for a split stay I must say. I don't think it impacts FP+ though, just ADR's.

I was unable to do it even with multiple phone calls. I think it was due to a software change. You can still book the second half of split stays before the 2nd check in at v&a, or at least I could a month ago.

I was unaware of this and went to book for my October stay and couldn't do it either whereas I had been able to for my trip in June. Really frustrating because we do split stays virtually every trip. Hopefully this will get corrected at some point in the future. At least I was able to book ADR's for the entire first half of my reservation online, something I couldn't do without calling for June.
