180+10 dining reservations?

I asked this question on the restaurant board, but I've received no responses. Maybe this is a more appropriate place...

We are going to WDW January 1-January 10. We have 1/1 booked at OKW and then 1/3-1/10 booked at other DVC resorts. Can I make 10 days of reservations on my 180 date from 1/1 (July 5) even though I only have one night booked in that particular reservation?

I also would like to know the answer to this! We are going January 9-18, but 1/9 & 1/10 are on a separate reservation. Since I am doing the marathon on the 12th, I actually don't plan to tour the parks until the 13th and I will only need 1 or 2 ADRs before then, which I am not worried about. (In other words, it's the ADRs in the second portion of the trip that are more critical!)

We are traveling with another couple who will be staying 1/10-18 and I wonder if it's better if they try to secure our reservations for the trip since their window will open up a day earlier. OR can I schedule the entire trip when my window opens up for the first reservation??

I don't know if you have to call or can do it online, but others have reported no problem in getting their reservations for the entire trip, even with separate reservations or split stays.
