180 + 10 days rule has placed me in a dilemma

I just found out that in order to make ADRs 180 + 10 days in advance I have to have a resort confirmation number. The problem is that because I am planning a trip with 8 people, we (mainly my mother) have decided not to make our resort reservations too early because of the possibility of one or more people dropping out of the trip, therefore reducing the number of rooms needed from 3 to 2. They do not even want to take advantage of the 4/3 promotion because of having to pay for the package in advance. We usually just book a room-only reservation. We will just cross our fingers that we can get 3 rooms at POP in June with short notice.

I relunctantly decided to go along with that decision, but told them that I thought it was absolutely necessary to make ADRs for a Chef Mickey's breakfast as soon as it was possible - which I thought was 180 + 10 days. Now I just realized that without the confirmation number, I can only make the ADRs 180 days previously.

My question is: Do I have a chance of a snowball you know where if I wait until 180 prior to make a reservation for a Chef Mickey's breakfast in June for 8 people? Won't the people booking 180 + 10 days get all of the tables? If it was not such a popular restaurant, I wouldn't be so worried.

I doubt you'll have any problem at all with Chef Mickey's at 180 days. The restaurant is huge, and they get alot of people through there each morning, so don't worry.

I booked for a February ADR with 12 people at Cape May Cafe, within the 180 window (only a month ago I made the ADR.) They didn't have the ideal time (we wanted around 8, got 7:20.) And when I inquired, "I guess Chef Mickey's is all booked too, isn't it?" I was told, actually, there's an 8:30 available. Which, since my Dad has to go to work that day (long story) wouldn't work for us, slightly too late. BUT there were plenty of times available for a party of 12! (They also had later ones available.) So I think if you book at 180 days you should be fine.
Another option is to book one room with the package and use that to reserve Chef Mickey's. You can always change if you need to!

Why cant you book the rooms and put the $200 deposits down to get a res number. You have until 45 days from arrival to pay it in full or get a full refund

If you are sure that you will be going, I would at least book one room!! Will you be having a room of your own and paying for it? If so, then I would book it now and take advantage of the 4/3 deal, even if your pther family members are not ready to commit yet. You can get a refund if it must be cancelled and it doesn't have to be paid in full until 45 days prior to arrival.

Also, just to clarify with the 180 + 10..........you still have to call on the 180 day mark of your arrival date.........then you can book dining for up to 10 days after that. Enjoy your trip!
