My son will only be 18 for a few months before our cruise this fall. Will he be allowed in Vibe the teen club still? He was disappointed when he saw it only went to 17 and would much rather hang out in Vibe than the adult pool and clubs!

No, he will not be allowed. The upper age limits on the clubs are hard limits. They will not allow anyone into a club once they exceed the maximum age. Even if a teen was 17 when the cruise began and had a birthday during the cruise, once they turn 18 they are no longer allowed into the club.

There is an 1820 club that will meet his first night on the cruise. What’s nice about the group is it’s a lot of kids that are getting ready for college, thinking about college, maybe last year in high school. So it’s really people who are of the same age and place in life. The thing is people have to go the first night so they know that there’s enough people interested in putting it in the following days navigator. They go to lunch, another day maybe dinner they talk about other things they can do with one another that’s in the navigator listed for adults.

Obviously, it depends on how many young adults are on the cruise and choose to join the 1820 activities, but my oldest nephew had a great time with the 1820 group last year.

This happened to my daughter many years ago in 2012 when she was still a senior in high school but turned 18 in December before our Feb cruise. It only makes sense from a legal perspective but a hard pill to swallow when they interact as "adults" with high school students every school day. She was really disappointed to say the least but ended up meeting some nice kids at Club 1820 the first night and they hung around together during the cruise. Not exactly the Vibe but still allows for some good times. The success of 1820 is really dependent though on how many of them show up the first night.

This is exactly why my daughter changed her mind about her graduation cruise. She has wanted to do the transatlantic for several years but would have been 18. Instead we are doing the Panama Canal so that she can have one more time in the Vibe.

This is something I am nervous about with our graduation cruise, my twins will be 18. I have it in my mind to pretty much insist they go to that first 1820 meet up. From there they can decide what they want to do but I am going to make sure they go to the first planning session (so to speak).

I sent DD18 to the 1820 club the first night on our Magic Northern European cruise. She went to a couple of the events afterwards--lunch meetup and a craft. She felt the group on our cruise became cliquey and she wasn't a part of it...there were a couple kids she liked, but didn't hang out with them outside of the couple events she went to. She did like the CM running it though. DD18 did enjoy going to a variety of adult things with us--evening entertainment in Fathoms--a magician and a comedy string quartet; as well as attending the 'Anyone Can Cook' and napkin folding classes. DD14 made a friend in Vibe and hung out with her for the most part and kept herself busy while the rest of us were in the adult entertainments. My 2 girls did check out the various open houses on the last day at sea though--DD18 loves Iron Man, so it was great for her to be able to see that in the Oceaneer's Club! I will say that our cruise was pretty port heavy, so the amount of interaction she had was plenty for her!
