I knew before I went that they automatically charge an 18% gratuity for parties of six or more... but I have to admit to being a little surprised that they also charge it at buffet restaurants?!?!?!
I can understand it at the table service--we typically tip 20% or more at restaurants at home--but everything I've ever heard/read about tipping at a buffet is NOWHERE NEAR 18%!
I read an article once that said you should tip about 10% at a buffet...and my husband said he's heard you tip about $1 per drink brought to the table.
We were at the Trails End restaurant the other day and were charged the 18% gratuity automatically. I overheard the family at the next table talking (mom, dad, two little girls) wondering how much they should tip--the Dad's position was "0, right? It's a buffet!"
I never heard what their final decision was...
Families that go with less than 6--do you tip 18% + at buffets? Am I strange at thinking that's a bit excessive?
