Backstage magic tour today,friday 7 may. Mickey woke us at 7 am, had a bit of grub and made our way to epcot to meet the tour-guide. There 22 of us doing the tour and after a bit of an introduction, we jumped on a disney cruise line bus and headed to the american adventure at epcot. We were shown various things including how some things work, but i have no desire to go into detail as i wouldnt want to know what was on offer before i went. Next was a visit to the magic kingdom where we went into the tunnels and i was shocked to find we didnt go underground, its obvious when you think about it!!! Then it was off to mgm to get shown other things that are gonig to make you go "ah yeah, thats clever", and then we hit the whispering canyon cafe for lunch which was the all-you-can-eat skillet, and as id had this many times before, i knew i would enjoy it. Leander enjoyed the chicken and the dessert but isnt a lunch eater really so she was fine. There was another big fella who could eat, but i "out-ribbed" him. I had the reputation of the welsh riding on it!!!!!!!!!! In the animal kingdom, again we were shown lots of plants etc, but it was so hot, the driver was recording 104 in the area sheltered by trees in the backlot, and we ended up, bizarrely, watching the parade. We jumped back on the bus to go and went to the bus depot at epcot and said our farewells. A few answers for you. Was it a good trip? Yes. Was it worth what it cost? No. Am i glad i did it? Yes. Would i recommend it? A tentative yes, because of the cost. Were there negatives? Yes, the time spent on the parade should have been allocated on something else. Come on, paying to watch a parade wed all seen before!!! Any advice? Yes, if budget is an issue, do the keys to the kingdom tour which to me the magic kingdom section was by far the best and id have loved to have seen more (which you will, on the kttk tour) but overall id say that the tour falters in some aspects of iformation in mgm and ak , but what the hell, 7 out of 10, because you cant ignore how expensive the backstage magic tour is. Am i unhappy i went? No. When we got back to the hotel, we decided to eat there as i still felt comfortable after lunch, and after a quick cool shower and a bottle of cider, watching the boats go by my door, we went to the food-court and i had a supper of pasta meatballs and garlic bread and i thoroughly enjoyed it, while leander had a grilled chicken sandwich, and have you noticed how appealing the americans make their chicken products look? Totally satisfied, we went for another look in the shop, walked the whole circuit of french quarter and riverside and later, after a swim, i could hear the ice-cream seller in the food court shouting "mitch, mitch, where are you" so keeping the disney spirit alive, i felt obliged to hoof down a bloody great dish of strawberry and chocolate cookie dogh. You have to, dont you? While sitting on a park bench, we realised how nice it is in a disney hotel, first thing in the morning and last thing at night. I love it.
