18 Days til Christmas @ BLT...question???

Dec 9 we leave for 10 days @ WDW, the 13-18 @ BLT BUT we had to do the 9-13 @ PO:FQ b/c there were NO other rooms available when we called back to add them on. Soooooo my question to you guys is in regards to upgrades, I've seen many of you discuss room upgrades in the past and I was curious how you guys went about getting the upgrade... did you request an upgrade @ check-in or did it just kinda happen?

I assume you're referring to an upgrade at PO:FQ, not at BLT. Although I personally would never request a free room upgrade, there are many people who do it upon check-in. I guess people figure that the worst a CM could say is "no." If you are going to ask, I'd recommend being polite and appreciative regardless of the outcome (which you should assume going in will be a no-go). Either way, good luck.

Yea I wouldn't ask for it b/c I dont wanna be greedy or seem unappreciative of just being there in the first place, but I know a bunch of people have gotten them so I was just kinda curious how it went down and if there was a chance we could get one.

I don't think it's greedy or unappreciative to ask for an upgrade. I've been a DVC member for many many years and over that time our visits have definitely added to the bottom line for the "big mouse." That being said, I don't feel I deserve an upgrade for that reason, but I certainly will nicely ask if it's possible. If they say no, then so be it. I've actually been successful a few times. I vote for nicely asking.

We've never asked for an upgrade. However, at check-in, the CM has asked us if we would like one. Of course we said "Yes!"

POFQ has only 2 rooms type - standard and water view.

water view can be the swimming pool - in that case would prefer standard - garden view.

now if you get the stream (river) view - then yea it is nice at FQ.

the upgrades that we have received have been because we were their early. the front desk just offers us upgraded rooms.

If you are on points, an upgrade is rare, even at non-DVC resorts. We stayed at the CR before BLT was even a gleam in Jim Lewis' eye. We had two nights on cash and four on points. One of the cash nights was a different booking category than the others and we asked if we could stay in one room for the entire time. The CM at the desk told us that DVC members were never upgraded on a points stay.
